I am really devastated.

Found out this morning that my insurance (Anthem Blue Cross) does NOT cover IVF or IUI at ALL.

I am SICK over this.

I have private insurance b/c I am self-employed...uggghhhhh....

I have paid $334 a month for my DD for YEARS and now I find out when I am probably really going to need some help...

IVF is not covered.

The insurance/billing rep at the RE's office suggested I look into a new policy with a diff. company. She said that as long as there is no LAPSE in coverage, they cannot deny you for a pre-existing condition.

So---help ladies---does anyone know of insurance companies that cover, or at least partially cover, IVF?

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you have to go through this! I have no idea about insurance that covers IVF. I know there are some out there though. Mine will cover pretty much everything up to and including IUI with meds, but after that I'm on my own.

It's really a shame that more insurance companies don't cover IVF or at least partially. It just seems like it should be covered when all the other options have been exhausted.

I hope you can find something soon!!! If I have some time, I'll poke around on the internet and see if I can find some info for you!!

My insurance doesn't cover anything related to infertiltiy, not even testing to see what's wrong. I will be making an appt in the next month or so with an RE and we will have to pay everything out-of-pocket. But, in the end, it will all be worth it and we can always make more money. I know how you're feeling right now because I've cried many tears over this myself. But, in the end we've decided to go for it and make it happen.

I hope your able to find different insurance that will pay some, hon. And, I hope someone else on here can help you out and give you some good advice. Good luck, hon.

Mine doesn't cover anything at all - not even testing.

We also have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield too - the Healthkeepers plan. Our plan gives us $5K/year for fertility drugs (Clomid as well as all the IUI/IVF drugs) plus $5K/lifetime for IUIs and IVFs. Not a lot especially when ours will now cost $20K with TESE/ICSI but hey it's something. Our plan also covers 100% of diagnostic testing and treatment of underlying conditions causing infertility.

Are you sure they won't cover anything? If you want, PM me. My DH actually works for Anthem, so I can have him research your specific plan if you want.
