So, I'm starting clomid today. Tonight, actually. I'm on CD7 and I'll take it through CD11. My MD told me to start taking it on CD5, but I normally O on CD16, so I tweaked it. I know, I shouldn't be "tweaking" MD orders, but hey. I am. My body and I feel like this is the right thing.

So anyway, starting the Clomid tonight. Entering into our 7th cycle of trying. Any major side effects you all noticed? I'm aware of most of them, just curious which ones bother you all the most.

hi there, and welcome!!! i'm not sure why you are changing the clomid cycle days? i think you are taking it too late in your cycle. do you understand how it works? If you understand how the clomid works with tricking your body, it would make sense that CD7 is too late to have the proper hormonal effects on Ovulation. You are supposed to take it at the latest on CD5. I took it on CD3 through CD7, and I always O on CD16. Maybe you know something i don't!!! but Good Luck with it. It was successful in getting me pregnant, but I m/c'd at 8 weeks. tried it again on the next cycle and wasn't successful. I've decided to go without drugs this cycle. Hope it works for you!!!!

I Lynda's questions... I did 3 unsuccessful cycles of Clomid (currently on a break from the meds to give my ovaries time to breathe), and also did mine CD 3-7. I O'd on cycle days 17, 18, and 19 while taking, and in the low 20s when I O'd without it.. So I used to O really late (CDs 21- 23), and on Clomid it shortened it by a few days... I know some take it 4-8 and 5-9, but I have never heard of it being ok to start it so late in your cycle... Good luck to you- like Lynda said, maybe you know something we don't!

to the ladies above.

I am a late o'er - generally between CD 17 & 18, and my dr still told me to take it on CD5-9. I asked if I should take it later/earlier given that I naturally o late, but she said CD5 is the last day I could start because after that it might not work. Your hormones have to be at a very particular level/balance in order for the Clomid to be most effective, and that's why doctors prescribe it for a very specific part of your cycle - either CD3-7, CD4-8 or CD5-9. If you start too early there is a risk of overstimulating the follicles and if you start too late it will delay ovulation or you may not ovulate at all. But hopefully you are right and you know something that Jackie, Lynda and I all missed!

The only major symptom I had with clomid was hot flashes, including night sweats. I had them all throughout my cycle. I also had some bloating around o time but nothing too bad.

Good luck to you!!

I'm a late Oer as well. Usually sometime between CD20 and 36. I'm pretty irregular. I took clomid CD 3-7 the first 4 rounds and 5-9 the last round. I'd be interested in knowing why you switched up the days and what it does for you.

My major side effect was bloating. That went down as soon as i went off the clomid though. I was also pretty emotional on it and it did a wonderful job drying out my cervical mucus. I think that's partly why the first four rounds may have been unsuccessful.
