How did you find/choose your RE? My insurance may cover a consult with one (I might have found 2 that are in network for my insurance plan *crossing fingers*). I know my insurance doesn't cover any procedures or anything.

I am also thinking about checking into acupuncturists. Any thoughts and pointers on finding one that would be good for infertility would be great. Come the end of January (our one year mark) if I am not pregnant yet I am due to go back to my OB for a referral for infertility.

Well I got a referral to a specific RE so I really had no choice in the matter lol.

But I'd suggest researching the RE's that are covered by your insurance online, ask opinions of people who've been to them (if you know any) and call them to get a feel for their office (a lot of times I won't go to a doctor if their front staff is rude). Good Luck!

I don't have an RE (yet), but I do have an acupuncturist. I've been using acupuncture for years to treat migraines. I asked my chiropractor who he recommended. She's been great! I rarely get migraines anymore. No luck so far in getting my BFP, but I don't give up easily.

For my RE - I got referrals from friends who've had success with them, researched success rates online, made sure insurance covered them, and then talked to a few offices on the phone to see if we'd "click". I'm with April - if they seem pushy or rude or like they just don't have time to answer your questions, they're out.

my ob referred me to my RE on my first appointment with her when she found out I had never been on BC and dh and I had been having "pull and pray" sex for 3 years.

i am actually interested in acupuncture....but i have a hard time calling people and saying "I am suffering from infertility and would like to have a consult" or something to that affect.... <sigh>

I asked a bunch of people I know who they went to for infertility. I love my neighbors and they highly recommended the RE they used. I talked to my doc and she recommended the same RE without me mentioning the RE. I just asked my OBGYN which RE in town would work best with me and my infertility issues. I wanted a RE who would work with me, not one who would tell me what she was going to do without any consult from me.


I found my acupuncturist online. I read the book The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis and loved it. I found an acupuncturist in my city who has studied under Randine. I talked to her on the phone before going to her and decided I'd give her one visit to see what I thought. She's great and I feel so lucky to have found her. I would suggest making sure the acupuncturist you go to specializes in fertility and doesn't just know about it. Many will tell you they'll treat it, but that doesn't mean they specialize in it.
