I am so upset! I just got my dr results back from my Day 21 blood test....she said I had increased testostrone and something else is low....so basically I'm not ovulating! She said I have to do a fasting test but hinted at the fact that I had too much body fat!!!! I am NOT an obese person!! Infact I have way more muscle mass than most!! I am overweight, but I am also 5'11!

I just called my DH crying...I am even late, so my hopes were way high!!
I don't understand what this all means. I am soooooo frustrated!
Has anyone ever heard this before??

I am so sorry.....sounds like your doc isnt so nice! That is terrible that she would say you have to much body fat. Hang in there honey. At least maybe you can start getting some answers.

OMG I can not believe that your DR told you that! I am not skinny AT ALL and my Dr never said anything to me about fasting! He just done the CD 21 checkup and gave me Clomid! I am so sorry that you had to go threw this.

I have done the fasting test. It simply means not eating so many hours before taking the blood tests. This test was used to diagnosed my PCOS. I hope that is not what she is looking for in your tests. Good luck.

(((hugs)))

I totally undersatnd. I used to work out A LOT, and also have a higher muscle mass than most. Even when Im not working out, I maintain a higher muscle mass than most.

BUT, because of that, it generally does result in a higher testosterone level particularly when you exercise a lot (and what constitutes "a lot" is different for each person). And in MANY women, this causes you to NOT ovulate!

I went through several months of no ovulating, no periods, no nothing, when I was running 3 miles a day, working out an hour a day, etc.

I would suggest to start charting temps, go find out what your percent body fat is, and dont worry so much about the number on the scales.

And oh yeah, you may want to check out different drs. You would think this dr would have realized this, its not rocket science (not that part anyways lol) and its fairly common knowledge.

(((hugs))) good luck...

Lala...

Thanks for all of the fantastic, supportive comments. I am frustrated --even though it's only been 7 months! BUT, I'm still late, and I am po'd that my dr is being so annoying! I have gotten a few names of others, so I am going to wait to see what my fasting blood test says--which is testing me for PCOS and then go from there.
I am NOT fat--she's just rude!!
Thanks ladies!

Girl dont stress yourself out. Im also not a small girl and I'm also 5'11.

I just took that test and I'm waiting for the results. Fasting just means that you cant eat anything after midnight the night before. I'm sure your doctor is a wench, but maybe she/he didn't mean any harm.

Hopefully we will both get the results that we need. I do suggest taking the test to find out if you are ovulating or not.

I understand

Same here--6-ish feet and lots of muscle. I don't think that the docs are used to someone having that high number on the scales and it NOT being a bad thing! I wouldn't worry too much about it at all!!! Ignore your doc and look for a new one if you have that option.

Is she going to put you on Clomid??? It seems like that would be the next logical step instead of just saying, "You're fat" and leaving it at that...especially when that's not true.

I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience. TTC is already so emotional without inconsiderate and insensitive docs to make it that much worse for you!!!

and let us know what the next step is (after you kick the doc's *****, of course!).
