I am pretty new here, so i'm really hoping you all will have an opinion or know something!!

My periods are normally around 5 days. Lately they have been heavier in the beginning and then trail off to very light and are done by day 6 MAX! Now, let's fast forward to the one that is still lingering around on day 9...I have had a VERY light period, the days i marked as light were more than the spotting i'm having but barely enough for a pantyliner. They day i marked as medium was probably light by anyone elses standards. So, I'm just wondering what the heck is going on. Right before it started my bbs were hurting terribly for 2 full weeks, and they seem larger to me, not to DH though. I am still having slight cramping every once in a while and my sense of smell has been off for at least 2 weeks, accompanied by dizziness and periods of slight nausea. Had my period not started i would be wondering if i was pg, and i took 2 $TREE tests before christmas that were completely negative. So what do you think?? I am just totally confused. I know its probably just a weird period, but in 12 years of having one, i have never had one like this.

Welcome!! I am Alicia (22) one of the cohosts over here! I really am not 100% sure what to tell you. Do you have long cycles normally? Do you have regular cycles? The one thing that keeps popping in my mind is PCOS. The only reason I say this is because often times with PCOS you will have long cycles and then if you have a cyst rupture that will often cause lighter but longer bleeding. Also have you been stressed, gained weight, or have major life style changes lately? Cause that can alter your period and cycle also! I hope this helped some. If it continues I would maybe just touch base with a Dr. to see what they say. Good Luck!

Thanks Alicia. I don't think its PCOS simply because i have always had regular periods (29 days usually), normal LP, pretty regular O date every month...its all pretty text book, which is why i am confused. Could be any number of things, though stress did pop in my mind. I have some job stress right now...nothing too major though. Who knows. I am just going to ride it out. I know it is common for people on BC to have break through bleeding or longer periods out of the blue, but since i have not been on BC I know that's not what its from. Its probably just weird...and i did look back and see that i have had spotting on this day before but not like this that i can remember. I am sure i am making something out of nothing, though if it lasts i will be calling the doc. I need to go find a new doc anyway, so we'll wait and see what happens. Now that i have reviewed my last few charts i feel a little better, but i'm still curious. The other thing that strikes me as weird is that i'm still cramping on and off. I'm just going to calm down and see what happens, but i appreciate your response. You'll be seeing more of me here i'm sure, though hopefully not for too much longer!!

Yeah, I agree its prolly not PCOS then!! I would say possibly stress related especially with the Holiday season etc...

Oh and I am definitely looking forward to getting to know you better!!! We are a really small group of girls here, but everyone is GREAT!!! And always tons of support and help!! I agree though, I hope that your stay here is VERY short!!! haha

I am definitely no expert, but I know that the longer I have been TTC, the stranger things have gotten with my cycle. I also started to pay closer attention to things. Whatever it is, I hope you get if figured out soon.
