I've read that some doctors have women go in the first day they get a positive on their OPK test to have an IUI done (even when on Clomid). How is that possible?! The last 2 months on CLomid, I got like 8-10 positive readings! I cramped in the middle of those readings on one day so I assumed that was my true ovulation date (the cramping was VERY noticable). I'm so confused. I think we missed our BDing in December because I thought I ovulated on Dec 15 or 16 and well, now that I've started I think I Oed on Dec 18!!! We didn't do it that day or any days after that. YIKES! I hate how I get so many positives while on the CLomid. Makes it hard to track anything!!!

Have you thought about getting a CBEFM? It remained dead-on even when I was on Clomid. Never got a false positive. May be worth the $ to avoid missing your fertile window month after month - particularly since IUIs aren't cheap!!

yeah Clomid gives false positives... if you're doing IUI your doctor should definitely be doing Follicle scans, as they really have to time it perfectly.

Clomid will give you false positive OPK's if you take it while taking the clomid. I always wait one or two days after the last clomid pill and then start my OPK's. I have never gotten a positive OPK then. Last month, I didn't get a positive OPK until 5 days after I finished my clomid.

That is all the help I can really give since that is my experience.

I agree the Clomid is awful!! If you are doing an IUI the Dr. should be doing follie scans like April said. Also they should be checking your E2 levels to make sure you have a mature viable egg as well as your LH levels to check for ovulation....Good Luck!

well i take clomid, and the CBEFM does give me false High readings. it doesn't give me a false Peak reading, it detects my peak, but I get high readings for over a week when i'm on clomid. but it does still detect the peak, so i just ignore the high readings. i also wait like 3 days after i take my last pill, till i test with OPKs. usually if you give them a couple of days till after your last pill, they will work fine. that is for me though... i don't know anything about IUIs sorry. With me, I have the monitor and I used digital opk's. I never got a peak using my monitor but on day 14 I got my first and only positive for that cycle. So I don't think Clomid messed with my opk's at all. I do not plan on using my monitor on my next cycle with Clomid because I think it is a waste of money. The instructions say not to use the monitor with Clomid because it tests your estrogen as well as LH surge so it isn't accurate.
