I am getting ready for our injectables class tomorrow and I took pictures of all my meds so I could use them as a reference during class. I thought you ladies might like to see!
Here's everything: YOWZA!
Here's step 1: Lupron injections (start this Thurs, 1/22)
14 day kit:
Needles: (I took a picture of it next to my hand for reference... as you can see, it's not monstrous... gulp)
Here's step 2: Follistim injections (start on Sat, 1/31)
Cartridges:
Pen Needles: (looks tiny enough... I can do this!)
Here's step 3: HCG Trigger
Powder + Mixer (10,000 units)
Needle: (umm... starting to get bigger here! Just the needle part itself is now the length of my pinky...)
Here's step 4: The Dreaded PIO Shots!!
Projesterone-in-Oil: (Olive Oil never looked so unappetizing)
Needle: (22 guage??!! Seriously?? Yowza!)

Our meds cost $3800. Our insurance ended up covering all of it though. You should definitely call your insurance company and see what they will cover. Ours covers $5000 of fertility drugs per year. Since we bought this round in December 2008, we still have $5000 in 2009 insurance benefits to apply toward meds should we need to do more IVF cycles this year.
IVF has very good success rates in women with blocked tubes - I hope you won't need to do it, but if you do, maybe the 50-60% success rates will make it worth it!!

Oh my!
That IS intimidating! The only thing I recognized was the HCG trigger stuff!
EVERYONE says that once you get used to it, it's not bad at all...I'm sure you will be a PRO in no time at all!
and I have a GOOD feeling about IVF for you!

Oh wow Juli!!! That definitely doesn't look like very much fun, but I'm sure you'll do great! I hope that this is the one and only time you'll have to deal with these drugs cause I have good faith that this will be a great success!
I also wanted to add that your rings are BEAUTIFUL!!!

I remember reading something about the RXs... I just can't remember what it was LOL
We do have 3 rounds of IVF covered if we need to go that route.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Class went great today!! The nurse actually had DH practice on me with a needle that was filled with water! I don't know who was more terrified - him or me. When he did the intra-muscular shot (1.5 inch needle), I yelped. Then I started bleeding. The nurse said it's common and she told DH not to worry about it, that he did a great job, but I think he's permanently traumatized!!
I think he feels bad for all the meds I have to take - I came home and the house was clean, bills paid, cats fed, everything! Now he's out getting some of my last few prescriptions filled, grocery shopping, and then bringing me home my favorite ice cream

Aww, poor DH- I can't imagine mine actually even coming near a needle! LOL... Hopefully he'll be making a routine of ice cream runs for you once you get that BFP!
