Hi
My doctor is starting me on clomid (first time) I have been trying for a year. (I am 34 and already have a 10 year old, we waited too long i guess?) I used OPK sticks and according to them, I don't think I'm ovulating, as I got a faint line around cycle day 13, but then by day 15, there was no line. (and it never got as dark as the control line) - does that mean I'm not ovulating?
Anyone else on clomid, and is there any side effects?
thanks!!!!

Hello,
Clomid helps people who don't O to O, and also helps people that do O to O more eggs.....Side effects can include, thinning of utering lining, cysts on ovaries, just insist that your OB monitors you while on clomid....Good Luck.

To brandy06..I am starting clomid this cycle too. I haven't had a period in like 50 something days (i lost count). I went to the doctor a week and a half ago and he gave me permetrium to make me start and then I will start clomid. I wish my period would hurry up and get here! Maybe we can chat and stuff as we go through clomid! I am kind of nervous! Good luck to you!

I am almost 34 and my DD will be 10 in April so we have a lot in common there. I was so worried about the age gap between Jessie and a baby that we were trying for. I was TTC for 9 Months finally got Pregnant then had a M/C at 6 week. I went back to TTC and on my 14th cycle my Dr put me on Clomid and I got my BFP the first cycle. I had hot flashes and mood swings but it was nothing. I could really feel when I ovulated so that was a wonderful thing that I had never had before. The only thing that I hated was when I was close to ovulating my Cervix hurt when we were trying to BD. Good Luck!!!!!

I went out and got my DD something she had been asking for. Made my DH his favorite food and told them that was because I was going to be moody and I was saying I'm sorry before I got moody ....lol

Thank you soo much for the replies girls!
Susanjoy and epiwishful - I would love to discuss any of this with you while we're all starting clomid together - hopefully this will be our first and last month having to take it!
Blue eyes - wow, we do have a lot in common. My daughter turned 10 in october. I was really worried about the age gap too, but she is pretty excited about the thought of one day being a 'big sister' and we'll have a live in babysitter! lol
Thanks for sharing your story, that is so inspirational! IT gives me hope!
I'm nervous about starting clomid - just because i'm a big chicken. If the side effects are hot flashes and mood swings only, I guess I can handle that, just not sure if the people around will be able too!
thanks again!!

two questions...one for everyone, one for my new clomid buddies brandy06 and susanjoy:
1) how much did your dr start you on? Mine started me on only 50mg...
2) when are you starting???? If I don't get lucky this month, I'll probably start the end of feb...
I'm TOTALLY nervous! But I also need to control myself because I'm afraid I am getting too excited in thinking I'll automatically be getting that BFP on the first try.

I started Clomid for the first time this cycle too. I got hot flashes...still have a few and my last pill was 7 days ago. My CM has been less. My pre-O temps had been higher. I felt more weepy too.
I hope all of us starting on Clomid gets our BFPs right away.
I was on 50mg from CD5 to 9.

I took my first dose of clomid this am. I'm on 100mg days 3-7. I wonder why I'm started on 100mg to start with and on days 3-7 instead of 5-9? Just doctor's preference I guess? My progesterone is pretty much unheard of (.65) end of cycle. Hoping for a BFP soon. I"m really worried about moodiness, I hate that. Good luck.

i believe the difference is that taking clomid on days 3-7 will produce MORE eggs..and taking it days 5-9 will produce a more mature egg..Good luck ladies! i hope to join the clomid club next cycle..im going for bloodwork today for FSh so hopefully by the end of this cycle we will have some answers!

Okay I was curious about the days 3-7 or days 5-9 clomid thing and this is what I found:
In theory, days 3-7 of Clomid lead to more follicles and fewer side effects on the lining and the mucus. Days 5-9 lead to better development of just a few follicles. It seems to make a difference for some women and does not make any difference in others.
Hope that helps a little.

it helps, but I'm still confused...wouldn't it be nice if I just get a BFP this month and I don't have to worry!! Fat chance though...although stranger things have happened!

WOW, there is a lot of us taking clomid for the first time this cycle!!! This actually makes me feel so much better. WE'll have to keep eachother posted on how we're doing. I see my doctor tomorrow at 11, so I'm not sure what dose she's starting me on, or what days.
Good LUCK!!

When did you start your provera? Have you taken it before? I was expecting AF right away but it didn't come for 15 days after my last provera pill! The doctor said 10 days is after the last pill is average!!! I couldn't believe it. And then it was really terrible but just for the first day and then it was fine..... I'm guessing doctors all have different reasons for choosing the days they do to put patients on clomid. Good luck, don't be scared. So many women are getting their bfps on their first or second round of clomid!!!!!!!
