Did you fast before hand and not eat for 12 hours?

When I went for my first b/w to check my levels my doc never mentioned fasting so I didn't, but when I did some research on the net about progesterone levels I read that for best results you should fast before the test. So I just went in this morning to get b/w to check my levels again and so I fasted this time, although I am also getting cholesterol and glucose checked so I had to fast for that. Wondering if any of you fasted or not for progesterone testing. I wonder if it really does matter. My doc doesn't seem to think so.

I did the 12 hour fast before getting mine done, but my doc was also checking cholesterol and glucose, so I'm not sure if she would have had me fast for progesterone or not. I know, that doesn't help much

I had my pre-O progesterone checked and didn't have to fast for it. My OB didn't say anything about having to fast. The lab didn't ask either. I haven't had my post-O progesterone tested....my OB told me that its not needed for me.

I wasn't told to fast but I read also that the results are more accurate that way becasue progesterone levels tend to go up and down so I got my blood taken first thing in the morning before breakfast and plan to do the same next time.

I didn't fast, either, when they just tested my progesterone. But I HAVE read that the results can be more accurate when done on an empty stomach. I don't think that it matters very much, though...you can always talk to your doc about the fluctuations that having eaten may cause!

Good luck and let us know what the results are!!!

(I still LOVE that giraffe pic in your siggie!!!)

I get my progesterone tested late in the cycle(it would be after o if o ever happened) and I don't fast and never have had it mentioned to me.

Thanks so much everyone!

Last time I got the b/w taken at around 12:00pm and didn't fast, and this time I just had it done at 8:00am this morning and I fasted (is that a word? ). So I am really hoping the levels will be higher but I don't know

I'll keep you guys posted

I did not have to fast either. I even mentioned it to my doc before hand and he said it was not necessary. I will go for my CD3 test, hopefully next week. Good luck!
