Hi ladies-
DH is getting a little nervous. His appointment is Friday. Can someone who's husband has had one tell me what he can expect when he goes in? Is it actually like it is on tv--a little room with porn? I think if he knew what to expect he could prepare a little bit mentally for it. Thanks in advance!
i can understand why he is nervous no pun intended but when nervousness kicks in things dont always come out like they should i dont know about S/A but i wanted to wish u both look and hope u get a good out come.
When my Hubby had his SA done he was given a bottle and told to bring it back. He did it at home. He was also told to keep it warm and bring it back as soon as he had done it. He stuck the bottle under his arm.
Our labs here where we live make all men do it at home and bring it back.
My DH was also given a sterile cup to use at home since we were able to drop it off within the hour time limit. Then again maybe they didn't let men do it there I'm not sure...hope everything turns out OK, he'll be fine
Same as what these women said. Sperm banks sometimes have "aids", but your regular doc or clinic won't...well, not any that I've been to. Generally, the man is sent home...or wherever is convenient and out of the office.
Good luck, Dawn...to you, but especially DH. It's hard for many men to take this step!
Thanks ladies. We weren't sure how this would work. It is a fertility clinic and it's located about 30 minutes away. So it would be nice if he was supposed to do it at home if they told him so he didn't have to drive there, drive home, then drive back again. But they didn't really say what to expect. I thought we would get something in the mail explaining, but nothing yet. Maybe I will call just to check and see if they expect him to collect it at home.
You'd still have to have the sterile cup, I think, but maybe you could get that from your doc nearby! And if not, go, get the cup, and go back to the car for playtime. No extra driving needed and probably a well-deserved stress reliever.
My DH said he would go to get this done too. We are on month 11 of TTC. He has not made an appointment yet though, he is nervous. He says he is scared that it will come back and he is the problem. I just want to know we are both ok and then we can take it from there.
