I started taking prenatal vitamins in June 2008 when I started TTC. I am still not pregnant, and have taken the vitamins on most days of the week since I started them.
So this has been 9 months of taking prenatals without being pregnant...is this safe????
Yeah, most doctors recommend you start taking prenatals before you even start TTC. I don't think there's a such thing as "too much" unless you were taking more than the recommended dosage.

Our TTC journey: 6 cycles Clomid, lap surgery/ D&C, IUI, 2 x IVF; 33 cycles- BFN.
IVF#1 (March 2010) Transferred two 8-cell grade A (perfect) embies- BFN and heartbroken.
IVF#2/FET#1 (Jan/Feb 2011):Transferred two (7&8 cell) grade A (PERFECT) embies- BFN again.
March 2011- February 2012: On BCP due to endometriosis.
March 2012- taking a few months off of BCP and we are TTC naturally.
We will re-evaluate another IVF w/FET try in 2013.
I definitely agree with the other girls. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat soluble vitamins, so it is possible to become toxic on these if you take more than the recommended dose. This is because those vitamins are stored in your fat cells. All other vitamins are water soluble and are excreted in the urine if too much is taken (not that taking too much can't be dangerous). Taking too much of anything can be dangerous, but as long as you are obeying the RDA, you are fine!
I think you should be just fine!!! I have a friend who has been taking them for 2 years and she still isn't pregnant!! My DR told me to start taking them a year before TTC!!!
