Dh and I just went to the Dr. I haven't had af since January 31st and I'm defenitely not pregnant. They sent dh to the lab today to do an semen analysis, and the dr. prescribed me provera to jump start af and wants to do and HSG! I'm so scared that this is going to be extremely painful. Have any of you girls had one done? How did it go?
I've had a HSG. While it was uncomfortable, I wouldn't say it was painful. People gave me tips ahead of time that i think really helped. I was told to make sure I was really hydrated and to take some painkiller like tylenol a little while before the procedure. I like to know everything that's going to happen, so I did a lot of research and was not nervous at all. The most uncomfortble part of the HSG for me was the speculum insertion as they used one that was bigger than the one usually used for a pap. There are a bunch of HSG stories in the TTC w/ MA board. I can't remember the area they are under, but it's like procedures and drugs or something liek that.
I had one does as well. I agree with what Cel said. It didn't hurt for me, just a little uncomfortable. Definately take some ibuprofin a half hour before the procedure. Your doctor should also tell you that. Good Luck and don't worry it's a fairly quick procedure and feels like a regular pap.
Aww, try not to worry Annie! I haven't had one, but from what I hear, they aren't too too bad. Hopefully the HSG will clear out the cobwebs and get you that BFP!
The only thing to note is that 2 months ago I was told by my OB that the dye went through the right tube. Well, it did, but my RE found that it barely did because there's a blockage.
Good luck & let us know when the appt is!! It's a GOOD thing they are moving forward!

We will re-evaluate another IVF w/FET try in 2013.
Thank you so much! I'm really trying not to overthink it! I keep worrying about what will happen if there is a blockage, or dh does have a low sperm count. I was so naive to think that this would just happen for me. I'm trying to remind myself that this will all be worth it when I hold my baby in my arms.
Try not to worry... it won't help! I have a blockage and I'm not even sure what we're doing yet, ya know? Let's just hope and pray for excellent spermies and open and free tubes!! Keep us posted, Annie!

I had it done and honestly, it was not painful for me....it was a little uncomfortable for about a minute with the die pushing through, but not too painful...the worst part was the cramps afterwards! Good Luck!! I hope that this is just what you need to get that BFP!!! YAY!!! KUP!
