When I went to my RE I was complaining how I produced 3 eggs on Clomid and still didn't get a BFP, and that something major must be wrong with my eggs....(yea im a paranoid) So he proceded to tell me that he hates Clomid and doesn't use it, and that it decreases your chances of conceiving in alot of women, b/c it thins your lining so much and makes your CM terrible, and that I should not even worry about not getting PG on CLomid...so I thought I would tell you ladies since some of you have taking quite a few rounds with no success.....dont give up hope if the clomid doesn't work and see what other options are out there besides clomid....

Hmm. That's interesting... I'll have to ask my Dr what his thoughts are on that since it seems that is part of our plan!

I have heard that too....but....with monitoring (like you will have Cris)...they will know if its thinning out your lining and you will definitely be able to tell if you have changes in your CM from it. The other similar option is obviously Femara for those that are wondering....but I didnt concieve on Clomid, but I also had no problems with the lining thinning or CM...plus I highly suggest PreSeed to anyone on M/A anyways...hope this helps...but yes there are TONS of other options!

That's also good to know Alicia! Thanks! I will be monitored carefully, so I won't worry about that and we've been using the Preconceive, so that will help too!

It's very good for some and not so good for others... so I wouldn't say not to try it. Especially if you are being monitored closely (which I was not). My RE told me that if it's going to be successful, it is *usually* within the first 3 months, and after that he usually moves on to more testing. Since I had already done 4 rounds of it, there wasn't much he could do. I even asked him if I end up scheduling my testing for CD 3, could I start Clomid again on CD 3 next cycle (since it's after the bloodwork and u/s), and he said "why not? It's only 5 rounds, right?" I'm not sure if I will do it (it depends on which cycle day my body decides to O this cycle), but it's interesting that every doctor has a different take on it.

Our TTC journey: 6 cycles Clomid, lap surgery/ D&C, IUI, 2 x IVF; 33 cycles- BFN.
IVF#1 (March 2010) Transferred two 8-cell grade A (perfect) embies- BFN and heartbroken.

IVF#2/FET#1 (Jan/Feb 2011):Transferred two (7&8 cell) grade A (PERFECT) embies- BFN again.
March 2011- February 2012: On BCP due to endometriosis.

March 2012- taking a few months off of BCP and we are TTC naturally.
We will re-evaluate another IVF w/FET try in 2013.

I've read that Clomid can actually prevent pregnancy too... mostly because it creates hostile CM in ~1/3 of women. When I was on it I always took Robitussin cough syrup just in case.

I think more doctors should monitor their patients while on Clomid. There are side effects that really need to be watched carefully.

I've heard that as well. But on the other hand After 12 months of trying without ovulation I got pregnant on my second round of clomid. So who knows

sorry ladies, i gotta disagree, but for ME - both times i got pregnant were on the clomid!!! so i'm a believer!!!! i have a co-worker too who is 41 and got married later in life and decided to try to have a baby. they tried for over a year and then her first cycle on clomid - bam!!! she's pregnant.

i know it's not for everyone, and if you don't respond to it, try something else, but i have to speak highly of it. my next cycle, i'll be using it again!!! oh an edited to add that i just used preseed lub when the clomid dried up all my cm. i agrees it's horrible on your cm!!!

HUGS

Yea I didn't mean to scare anyone .... just wanted tp give some info, I would def. say that DR should monitor more and my dr did follie scan but never said anything about my lining or CM, I did use Pre-seed tho as well which help alot!...but yea my RE said 50% women he seen it works and the other no luck so I guess i am one of those 50%....
