So I have to renew my Drivers license before my birthday next week (yeah, they mailed the darn thing months ago and I forgot) but I just looked at the fee and while I don't want to pay it, I need my license.
I wondered how much you have to pay to renew your license and for how long it's good?
In NY, it is $50 to renew it and it's good for 8 years. (such a random number if you ask me... why not just make it an even 10? LOL) So, do I have reason to not want to pay that or is that really cheap compared to you all?!?!?

They are more if you have a different license - DH had the one where he could drive bus cause that is what he did in college and that one was double the regular price. He dropped down to the regular one cause he doesn't plan to drive a bus anytime soon.

Ok, so....
I pay $6.25 a year
Ash pays $4 a year
Christine pays $8.20 a year
Jackie pays $7 a year
So it looks like I shouldn't really complain! LOL... Can you tell I'm home alone and bored?
Christina... my Dad has to pay a ton for his license renewals... he has the regular license, a motorcycle license and he also has his CDL. So he can drive the big rigs (not that he does, he just always wanted to learn... LOL)

In VA (where I got it renewed last) it was $32 for 8 years.. so $4 a year..
In MD (where we are now) it's $30 for a renewal but I have no idea for how long.

Nice! You're lucky April!!! I wouldn't mind $30. I guess I consider $50 a lot for anything these days!

I'm in Texas with Ash and Christina. I feel very grateful that we don't live in other countries like europe where their licenses are hundreds to thousands of dollars.

I think ours is $40 - $45 for 5 years.
In the province where I grew up it was $20/year - if you had a clean driving record. If you had any tickets or accidents it went up (eg. $100 for the first accident, $250 for the next, etc).

Yeah, the Northeast is always the last to get on the bandwagon with all the "cool" things. LOL It's amazing how much things differ from county to county in NY alone!

Seriously? I didn't know that! Now I'm definitely not going to complain!

That's pretty interesting Kim... I can't imagine what some people would be paying if they did that in the US! LOL They wouldn't be able to afford it!

Well I'm glad that I'm not the most expensive! I swear it was only like $30 last time I had to renew it. Then again, that was like 7 or 8 years ago!

Where I grew up insurance was through the government. So if you had an accident the driver was the one penalized, not the insurer. I actually preferred the system that way. My full coverage insurance was only about $450/ year. As long as you are a good driver it stays low. Now we pay over $200 / month for each car!

It really amazes me the differences in pricing and taxes and stuff between the states/areas in the country.
