Tomorrow is my yearly OB appt (pap, the whole 9 yards). I am hoping they have DH's SA results then. I am only going to be 4 dpo so no pregnancy test will show up now. I am so worried about how it will be. Add to that the possiblity of if we aren't pregnant this cycle I have to do the HSG AND the fact that this doctor is new to me and has....ummmm.......never been down there before is bothering me. I much prefer male OB's (they are usually much more gentle in my experience than female OB's) yet I wish my old doctor was still there. Waaaaa......

So keep those fingers crossed that we get good SA results - I don't want DH to be in a bad mood tomorrow and I just want something to go right for us for a change! Is that too much to ask for?

APPOINTMENT UPDATE:
Okay - it went pretty well. The pap was less than exciting as I am sure ya'll can understand. I was told I have fibrocystic breasts - joy! So now I have cysts on my ovaries AND my breasts.

Anyways - we got our SA results back. Apparently DH's sample was a "good amount" and his count was just over 7 million (Dr. said they wanted greater than 5 million) and his motility was 66% (which the Dr. said was good too because they want at least 50%). Truthfully, I was a little worried. DH is overweight and while in the waiting room I was looking through a Conceive magazine and it had an article about studies done on overweight men and their semen. It said that some studies have shown overweight men can have low sperm count, etc but that they have also seen no issues in other studies. But after the SA results I was much happier.

Doctor said i might have the start of a yeast infection but to wait to see if I am pregnant before starting treatment. I was given the paper work and I am supposed to have the HSG done as soon as my period leaves. I have to gestimate come CD 1 and call and get my appt made. He has also decided that the month after the HSG if I don't get pregnant that month (cause that month will be unmedicated) we will do clomid days 4-8 instead of 5-9.

Just checkin in on you... glad you finally got some answers. 7 million is great! I know it seems like you have a lot going on but just remember to take it one day at a time. Every day, every appt, you are getting closer to that BFP! I'm thinking of you and praying for you!!

I'm glad that you got the results back and that they are great! I hope that you won't need the HSG, but if you do, maybe we can be HSG buddies! LOL

I really don't want to disappoint you in any way, but I'm concerned with what your Doctor told you.

The motility is completely normal and he's correct in that aspect that it should be over 50%. But a count of 7 million is low. Do you know if it was total or concentrated? If it was concentrated find out how many mL the sample was (for example if it was 3mL then the total count would be 21 million). If it was a total count, I would be concerned that your Doctor sees nothing wrong with that. Anything over 20 million (total) is considered normal.

You can feel free to PM me if you want any more information.

Maybe he misspoke cause I saw the paper and in my mind it didn't look like 7 million, but I didn't question it. I was more worried about the pap after he told me it was normal. I saw 72.8 and there was a note beside it that said 10 to the 6th power. So then that would be 72,800,000 right? I barely passed math so that explains all of that.

Yes 70mm is much better! I was just thinking the same thing as April and was going to IM you. After Cris' post this morning, I went back and looked through DH's SA results (it listed the ranges for good/normal/low etc) and realized that 7mm is actually pretty low (I think after dealing with my DH's single digit counts for so long, I got a little excited as soon as I saw a number with a "million" attached to it ). But you have nothing to worry about with 70mm - in fact, I believe that falls into the "excellent" range!
