We had to have our oldest dog Mira down last night. I have had her since I was 14 yrs old and she was very special to me. This was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do...but watching to see her have such a hard time and not enjoying life anymore was even harder, so we knew we had no choice anymore. She had arthritis and was getting very frail and week and wouldn't eat or anything anymore. She couldn't even go up the stairs to come to bed with us the pas few days, which she always did before. So we finally decided last night was the right time (because we would never feel there would ever really be a right time to let her go). We took her to the vet and afterwards they let us breing her remains so we could bury them in a special place, which we then did. She's now resting up on the hill under the apple tree where we grew up, DH and BIL (which now owns that land along with my sister and was nice enough to let us bury her there). Anyways, sorry if I'm rambling, but I guess I just need to vent a little. It was just so hard to get up this morning and not have her around. At least Maggie (my little one, the one on my siggie) is only 1 1/2 and will hopefully be around for a long while. Thought I'd share a few pics in memory of Mira for anyone interested.

I'm so sorry. I just got my first dog 8 months ago and I love her so much. I can't even imagine saying goodbye to her right now. At least you have your other doggie to cuddle with.

Im so sorry. Having to let go of a pet is so hard! Especially one that you are so close too! But she is in a better place now watching over you and your family!

Thanks a lot girls, it means a lot!

We've been spending a lot of time outside this weekend, playing with Maggie (our only pup now) to make sure she isn't too lonely through all this. She's really helping us cope. DH and I tried to keep busy doing some yard work and stuff since it was really nice out today. I've been sleeping a whole lot too (12 hour + nights and naps during the day), it's been an emotional time and it just has warn me out. I'm sure it'll take some time, but I still know we did the right thing, so I think I'll be ok.
