I would assume the parents (meaning you) would pay for it, just like bridesmaids pay for their own, but that's just me... I couldn't tell you for sure.

I don't know what the tradition is. I had both of my nieces in my wedding. My oldest sister volunteered to make their dresses and I paid for the material. Before my sister planned on making the dresses, I planned on buying them. I was going to rent the tuxes for my nephews as well, but their parents decided to buy tuxes for them when they found that for less than the rental price. They wouldn't let me reimburse for the tuxes.

My bridesmaids bought thier own dresses, but my I paid for the flower girl dress. It wasn't expensive, but I didn't want the hardship going to my cousin when her son was our ring bearer and has four other children.

I think if you want them to be in it and you pick out a dress that is out of the parent's price range, then it would be helpful if you by it, or pick out a different dress that isn't as pricey.

If you need to pay, check around with friends, Craigslist, or ebay. People are always selling flower girls dresses for cheap or maybe a friend will loan you theirs just for the wedding. I just loaned the flower girl dress used in my wedding out to another friend who just got married. I just asked her to pay to have it dry cleaned. Its a beautiful ivory dress that seems to fit 3 or 4 year olds. Maybe someone you know has a flower dress just sitting around. Show to the bride and ask "Is this ok." If its beautiful how can she object?

I don't know - my niece (to be) was ours and we just had her wear a cute dress they already had that went along with our colors. We paid for the fabric and patterns to my my two bridesmaid dresses and my two nephews (to be) vests and my SIL made hers and my nephews vests and my MIL made my friends.

I'm not going to be much help because we had two Flower "chicks" in our wedding. They were both 18 years old. LOL. They paid for their own dresses though- and they offered to do so. The dresses I picked weren't very expensive though and they have already been worn more than just the once.

If it were me, I would talk to the bride and if she's going to ask you to pay, maybe you can work with her and pick something that will fit in your price range yet will still be along the lines she's thinking. Or maybe you can think of someone who might be able to make the dress? I don't know... hopefully you can figure it out!

in the traditional sense the Bride or her parents pay for the flower girls dresses and ring bearers tux rental. but that is just tradtional. lots of people do it differently. did the bride say anything about the purchase of the dress?

for my upcoming wedding both the ringbearer/flower girls parents are going to be paying for their own. But, if they needed help on it, I plan on helping them get it. I would talk to your SIL and ask if there is any way they could help you with that considering they picked out the dress for her. They might pay for half.

Umm it really just depends. My Flower Girl paid for hers...but I bought all the jewelry and paid for them all to get thier hair and nails done too...so its really just a personal choice. I would just suggest talking to her about it...maybe she can choose something a little less expensive...

Typically the flower girl (or rather, her parents) pay for the dress. Now, if it's too expensive, you could just say that that is extremely a lot of money for a little girls dress that she's going to only wear once. Maybe get a picture of it and go to some resale dress shops to see if they have one that looks close but not exact for way less money?
