book on fertility! In my opinion of course! I'm now reading ''The Mind-Body Fertility Connection'' by James Schwartz and I'm only at chapter 3 and I'm already psyched! It's all about meditation to help relieve stress related with TTC and mental blocks that we have about it, the biggest ones being the fear of loss, financial situations, the diagnosis of ''infertility'' etc. It also says that the power of the mind can help prepare our body for the changes of pregnancy ahead of time, making it easier on the body when pregnancy is achieved.

It also presents individual stories of women, some well into their forties, who concieved naturally after trying these alternative measures, sometimes along with MA, other times not, to achieve pregnancy and carry them to term. It is increadible! For example, one study took forty women between the ages of 26 and 42 who had been diagnosed with ''unexplained infertility'' and had been TTC anywhere from 2 to 12 years and had them follow 9 guided hypnotherapy sessions. After the sessions, 65 % (26 of the 40 women) concieved and carried a healthy baby to full term! I was shocked!

So I'm definitly interested in learning more and I would recommend it to anyone else who, like me, thinks that the mind is a powerful tool over the body and that the mind can heal us. I am looking forward to learning more meditation techniques in this book. For example, last night I ''visualized conception'', hehehe! We'll see if this helps! My theory is that it sure can't hurt!

I think that's fabulous. I'm a big believer in our mind and the power it holds. The problem I think is that our mind sometimes messes with us in very sub conscious ways. But, this book sounds interesting and I may pick it up! I've been doing more yoga to help with the stress because I think the stress probably does hurt.

Addie, yoga is a great idea! It even says in the book that it is a great way to relax the body and relieve stress...I wish I liked yoga, but it's not really for me. I'm thinking of seing a Doctor of Natural Medicine that came to speak to the teachers at our school once. She says there's lots she can test for easily and naturally that can help fertility and that medical doctors often overlook (like iron deposit deficiencies and liver toxicity, etc., we had discussed this a little after her speech.) My chiropractor also does accupuncture, so I might try a few sessions of that too. We'll see! They're both covered by my insurrance, so what the heck, right?

Very neat. I tried the whole visualization (and while propped up after BDing the whole visualizing conception. It didn't help me at the time, but maybe I didn't have my mind completely there. I will have to check the library for it - that is the only way I can read a book right now - no money in the budget. It is a pool for AJ or books for me.

Another thing I have been doing to relax is that I downloaded meditation songs on itunes. It's just someone talking to you into relaxing. I usually fall asleep while listening to them, but they have helped me relax and refocus. I find that life is so stressful that this alone might make it harder to TTC, that perhaps learning ways to relax would help.

The only thing is that I don't want any one thinking I'm saying "just relax and you'll get pregnant." I obvioulsy know there are serious conditions that can impact your fertility. But the stress that comes with that is so awful, that we all deserve to figure out how to make this process livable and stress free. So I highly recommend yoga or meditation (even if you do it like me through itunes as I have no idea how to mediate).

I'm going to get this book this weekend!

I couldn't agree more!!! I also have CDs like that, some guy guiding you through meditations....but I'm going to try and find some specifically about fertility. And I agree with you that not all infertility is psychological, obviously, but by reducing the day to day stress in our lives, our bodies are more able to readjust and stay in a fertile mode, relaxed and more ready to concieve. The book explains how negative emotions make the hypothalamus produce cortisol, which basically switches the fertility switch to «OFF», sending mixed messages to the reproductive organs causing annovulatory cycles, messed up FSH levles and more. It's very logical if you think of it....every action causes an equal reaction! Just by the sound of things, I think you'll love the book too!
