I've noticed this problem last month and this month....my opk's and temps contradict each other. I was thinking last month that I just read the opk's wrong, but now I know I did not.
Yesterday I had a positive opk. I used a CBE digital to be certain. This morning the fire alarm went off at 6:10 in the morning...we are really not sure why and we searched the house/garage looking for a fire and couldn't find anything wrong. So I had to go to the bathroom really bad and so I went, got back in bed and took my temp thinking it would be high BUT it wasn't.....it was 96.95 degrees F. So I lay back down for about an hour and get up and POAS...a CBE digital and it was negative.
Now I start thinking that maybe I didn't have enough urine to for the opk to pick up the LH horomone, so I held it in from noon until 5pm....came home and POAS, another CBE digital and it was negative!!!
My doctor has said to trust the opk's because there could be a number of things that I could have done while taking my temp....but I didn't do anything different except get out of bed and move around before temping....but I thought my temp would be higher.
I'm so confused.....Why did my temp not go up? What do you gals think???

My OPK's and temps don't always match up, but I think mine are the opposite. I tend to get + OPK's the day I O(based on temps) and then a couple days after. Maybe you had a pre-O temp dip today and tomorrow will go way up? I have no help with the OPK's, because they confuse me! I'm not being very helpful, but I hope you get that temp raise soon!

If I accidentally get up before temping and then lay down and temp, my temp isn't much different - maybe just a couple tenths of a degree. That being said - I am not sure about OPK's. You don't have to get more than one positive in a row for it to be positive. You might have caught it on the tail end of the hormones.

It can be hard to catch that LH surge. I agree with Christina, you may have caught the tail end of the surge. I'll bet your temps go up tomorrow.

Here's my take on this...for whatever it's worth (whcih may not be much...)
I read that you're NOT supposed to use first morning urine with OPKs because LH is at it's highest after you wake. The best urine to use is the 2nd one of the day, mid morning, that way LH has a few hours to rise after you get up in the AM and your reading should be more accurate. Another thing is that if you woke up a little frazzled because of the fire alarm, it could have been enough to stress out your body for a short period of time and mess up your temp for that morning. I would also tend to think that OPKs are more reliable, that's why I will be cross checking my O date this cycle with OPKs, even though we are going to try and take it easy on TTC this summer (we're still gonna try, but not fuss over it as much...I'm still gonna temp to have more info for my OBGYN when I get in to see her). Anyways, I hope that helps a bit.

Thanks ya'll. In the past, I've always had good results with taking opk's first thing in the morning....we'll up until last month. I'm just so confused....I'm thinking I'm not going to temp next month.

Unless you changed info in your chart, everything looks ok to me. I don't usually get a temp rise the day after the first + OPK- it usually waits a day or two (check through my charts for examples if you want)... today's temp rise looks right on queue for your + OPK 2 days ago... JMO

Jackie- I didn't change anything except disregard the temp over the weekend when I woke up 2 hours later than normal.
I guess in my mind I was expecting a + opk up until I saw the temp rise. But this is only my 4th month overall while we've been ttc to temp, so I'm not the best at it. And I don't know all the rules.
So I guess I should just calm down and stop reading so much into it. Thanks again ya'll.

well i'm having a similar situation. i usually O the next day I get a positive opk. But today my temp did not go up. So i think i'm Oing today (2 days after pos opk). cervix is high soft and open and my saliva scope is full ferning. sometimes you can pick up the beginning of the surge and then your body doesn't O for 48 more hours. so keep BDing. I think my DH is so darn tired!!! G/L

It stinks trying to interpret all of this stuff.
I went ahead and adjusted my temp from sunday....subtracting .1 degrees for every 1/2 hour, so I think it is obvious now that CD16 will be my ovulation day.
