We got a letter from our health insurance company the other day saying: "Dear Former Members"...

Ummm Huh? Last I knew we were still members as I saw they took the premium out of DH's last paycheck. I called DH who had to call his boss.

Apparently, his company is changing the insurance carrier (like going through their business rather than the Chamber of Commerce). It'll be the same plan and all, just through the other company.

No one told my DH and they had 2 meetings last week where the boss had ample opportunity to clue everyone in. Nice, huh? And a smart company would have had the employees do all the new paperwork before the end date so it was a smooth transition with no lapse in coverage, right? Not DH's bosses!

SO, techinically as of midnight tonight (6/30) we don't have any insurance! DH did just call me and got all my info for the new paperwork so hopefully it'll be a quick process.

I was going to call this week to schedule my annual Exam with my Gyno and ask about the HSG scheduling, but I suppose that's gonna have to wait until I have our insurance back! I'll be really mad if I have to wait too long to get that stuff done... I've waited long enough for the insurance year to roll over for us to make the most of our deductable so I could do the darn HSG!

I'd like to think this happened for a reason, but I'm trying to figure that one out! I'm just thankful that they didn't yank the insurance completely and that DH has a stable job! There could be a lot worse out there right? But it's still frustrating and I'm annoyed! LOL

Ok, done ranting now. Thanks for listening!

that stinks!!!!! I can't believe that they changed it without warning. I'm hoping that there s a reason for it as well.

Wow! I agree that they should have handled it much better! They could at least have warned you and given you time to file the new papers...but as you said, it could be much worst. I hope it all works out, and fast, so you can keep moving forward with everything.

Sorry that happened to you. I have had more of those letters than I would like to see and it just makes you worry. DH's company had issues a couple years ago now and we didn't have insurance or really any paychecks for over a year. It was rough - we borrowed a lot of money from my IL's and put a lot on the credit card as well as eating into our savings. So now we are hurting. We both cringe everything time anything comes in from the Insurance company. I hope they get it going for you soon - in our experience, it can take at least a week or more. Good Luck!

Wow! It seems like some of you have been through some similar situations! It's so annoying cause it's totally out of your control!

Well DH called me today at work to get my information as he was filling out the papers right there. Phew! I'm so relieved that it's in the works! Now, hopefully they won't drag their feet with processing it all. I'm very anxious to get this HSG over with. It's starting to eat at my mind so I need it to be over! LOL... and knowing my luck, the 1 week that our coverage laspses will be the week that I get hit by a bus or something! LOL

When my employer switched providers the coverage was retroactive. However, they should have kept the employees informed and given them the forms much, much sooner!

Hmmm, I never thought about retroactive coverage Kim... I'll have to call DH's boss and ask about that. That would be something I could deal with!
