The other day I was at my Mom's and I was helping her unpack stuff from her car and she had two stuffed muticolored centipedes with the letters of the alphabet on them...weird! So I asked what those were for, and she diverted the question by saying it was for baby gifts to people she knew. So I asked for who, since I am not aware of anyone close to my Mom who is having kids right now...and she blurts out: They're for you and your sister one day if I ever get any grandkids! HA! I KNEW IT! So then I told her not to be so anxious or she would jinx us! I'm sure she has a full storage room somewhere full of cute stuff like that. We are having a surprise party in one month for her birthday and retirement all rolled into one...wouldn't a grandbaby just be the best gift ever!?!? She would probably scream then faint, hehehehe!!!

Anyone else know of anyone who is totally pulling for you and just can't wait for you to get preggers? Anyone know of secret stashes like my Mom's or other stuff like that?

It sounds like your Mom is very ready for a grandchild! If she's spoiling a child that isn't even born yet, just wait until you have a baby!

My Mom and my MIL are in cahoots to get me pregnant! LOL... they talk all the time about how they are ready for us to have a baby. I keep telling them to be patient. (They don't know we've been trying for 2 years). My MIL even signed this contract that says she'd by all the diapers and maternity clothes I'll need as long as I give her a grandchild! lol She's a nut!

I think my Dad and FIL are even ready... my Dad always says he needs a Granddaughter (he has two grandsons from my brother) and my FIL cut out a comic strip about not being a grandparent and mailed it to us. LOL

When my MIL and I were painting my house, she told me that she is ready to be a grandma! Dh's dad has been asking us since we got married when we're having kids, but his mom has always been like I'm not ready to be a grandma yet. So I was kinda like uhhhhh well we've been trying for about 9 months. But she said she's excited to be a grandma, so now all we gotta do is get pregnant ( it sounds so easy when I put it like that )

I do have to admit that I have a stash of baby stuff already But when I find an outfit or some baby item that is a super deal I can't say no!! I have gotten a video monitor for $60, a bouncy seat that has a zip on net for outside for $30, a super cute mobile for $25 that's also supposed to be developmentally helpful, and lots of sleepers, onsies, clothes for like $2 brand new!! I know I know I am a weirdo, but I figure I will need the stuff one day and if I buy it one thing at a time, by the time I get pregnant in 10 years I will have everything I need and won't have the big cost all at once!

My Mom knows all the issues we're going through, so she knows not to buy a thing!

My mom saved all our toys from when we grew up! She says she is going to give them to our kids because they are not "made in China". My brother and his wife, who have 3 children, refuse to take any of them, so she has it in her head she will be giving them all to me.

I will look through them because blocks from 20 years ago are still the same blocks today! But I don't want everything.

And dh's mom & dad make comments all the dang time about it!

Awww...that's too cute, but still puts some pressure on you (shame on her for that). I'm sure she doesn't mean to though. My mom is not like that at all. The only thing she did was give me the rocking chair she used with my sisters and I (and actually it was supposed to go to the first grandchild, but my sister told her to just give it to me when I was pg).

Thanks for sharing girls! And Lee Ann, I don't really see it as putting more pressure because she never brings it up unless I do and it's always in a respectful way so I'm ok with that, and she knows she has to be patient. But yes, I'm sure the secret stash is HUGE, even bigger than I can imagine because she has been picking stuff up for YEARS....6 to be exact! My sis and BIL have been TTC for 6 years so she started accumulating stuff 6 years ago. But now she's buying 2 of everything she can't pass up, one for us and one for them...she has always spoiled us with little surprises so I know she will spoil her grandkids rotten if she ever gets the chance! And she saved all our kid stuff too....the good stuff, like my little ponies, light brights and cabbage patches...so you can be sure I want those when the time comes !!!
