Hi Girls...

Can anyone on Clomid tell me how your dr decided to put you on it? How long were you ttc? If AF comes this month it will be 1 year for us and I mentioned Clomid to the doc but he basically told me no way would he ever put me on that. sigh.... I feel as if time is running out..

Hi I hope that I can help you a little. I had been TTC for 9 months and FINALLY got a BFP only to have a MC at 6 weeks. I then went into the Dr about a month ( maybe 2 ) after the MC for a CD 21 check up to check my prog. I was so fusterated with it that i did not go back when the DR had ask me to ( because of work) so when I did go back he told me that my prog was 7.9 and to have Ovulated a "mature" egg that it needed to be at least 10 so he told me that my next cycle he was putting me on Clomid. When I went in for that CD 21 check up on clomid my prog was 34.1 and my DR said that I had ovulated great. 7 days later I got my BFP on cycle 14.

I hope that you can get some answers.

My story is almost identical! I had an MC at 6/7 weeks. When I started to TTC again, I noticed that my luteal phase was short and went in to see my doctor. I had my progesterone measured and it came back at 8. My doctor put me on Clomid. This cycle was my first on Clomid. My progeserone went up to 23 and I just got a BFP yesterday.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I am going to wait and see if AF comes this month (fingers crossed). If she finds me then I will make an appointment to see the doc and discuss my options more.

Thanks.

After a year of TTC, I would insist that your doctor run tests or refer you to a RE. If I hadn't brought in temperature charts to my doctor and insisted that she look at them, I would still be TTC with low progesterone and no treatment.

Congrats Margo!!

My OB said that he would put me on something after I had been trying for about 7 months after having tests done. I am now on my 2nd cycle of the Clomid. He decided to put me on the Clomid so soon as I am on a time limit impossed by him.

I haven't had this much trouble or taken this long in getting pregnant in all my times before.

I was only ttc for 4 months when my doctor put me on clomid but I had had some long cycles and had bloodwork after each of those cycles, confirming that I was not ovulating. Why is your doctor against putting you on clomid? Are you ovulating good every month? Have you had any bloodwork yet? Usually they put you on clomid if your progesterone is low on CD 21 or if you have a luteal phase defect??? I only know about low progesterone. Has your dh had a s/a? I really hope you find answers and get testing done. Testing can only help you and possibly help solve any issues you might have. It is so important to have a doctor that really listens to you and treats you as an individual.

So far I have had bloodwork done to check my hormones levels and to make sure my thyroid is still ok (currently on meds for this) both turned out ok. Doc did a pap smear and ultra sound due to some irregular spotting I had one month. I have been ovulating good but DH has not had a s/a yet. He is afraid that it is his fault, he has agreed to have this done now but not sure where to go with it. He doesn't really have a reg doc and with the shortage of docs I don't know if mine will just do this for him. My doctor is against Clomid because I have had kids without medical assistance before and also he says that this is the med that can give you multiple births. GGGRRR... I think that it may be my only chose soon.

Popping in from Sept DDC..
For DH's SA, check with your doctor. My DH had one, all I had to do was ask my doc for it, he requested the lab paperwork for us. DH didn't even have to go in, I picked up a specimen jar for him, then he did his thing at home and I got the jar back to the lab ASAP.

On Clomid, it doesn't sound like your doctor is willing to take an aggressive treatment path. Unless you really like this doc, it might be a good idea to at least have a consultation with another doctor. it is not uncommon to have trouble TTC after previously having children, things can change with time and a good doctor will realize this. Also the odds for Clomid multiples are not very high, not all that much higher than the general population. Odds are if you did concieve multiples on Clomid it would be twins. If you're already definitely ovulating though, Clomid will not help you. Clomid's only purpose is to make that eggie come out. What hormone testing has your doctor done? I'd be sure to have a metabolic panel in addition to a hormone panel, and make sure that the hormone panel is done at the appropriate time in your cycle or the results are worthless - they can be in the normal range most of the cycle then at a vital time (such as after O) they can fail to rise like they're supposed to. If that's the case and your doc did the test right before AF or before O then the results are not helpful. Metabolic panel can be very helpful too - I never suspected I had insulin resistance until I had my blood sugars tested! First month being treated with a blood sugar medication I got my BFP after a loong time trying, hopefully you'll find something that simple, get it in balance and get that BFP! Good luck, hope some of that helps!

Hi. My doctor put me on Clomid because we are opting for IUI, and he told me I would have a better chance of success. My bloodwork came back all normal, but there seems to be an issue with my DH's sperm.

I had 3 babies in my 20's, then a surprise later in life, who now has no siblings near his age. So, I wanted to try to squeeze in one more baby, if I can.

Perhaps you might consult a different doctor who is more sympathetic to your concerns? That is what I did. My old doctor thought I ought to be happy with what I had, and wouldn't even do blood tests.

Wishing you well. I know, it can be frustrating...
