So I was looking for something to do to take my mind off the 2ww for a bit, and we had a bit of extra cash so I decided to get to work on some of our house projects...since we have a few we want done and never have any time or money, so this was my chance. I went to the building supply store for stain to stain both my decks, but turns out the guy told me it was supposed to rain all weekend. I was almost ready to give up that idea for a while when I spotted laminate flooring on sale that is the perfect color for what we wanted in our living room. We bought the house 2 yrs ago and have always said we wanted to put in new floors. We did the kitchen in early spring and that was a learning experience becasue we had never done anything like that before. So feeling confident that we could take on the living room and since I had found a great sale, we decided to go for it. Turns out, this make is harder to install, and our living room is huge, so it's more work than we thought. So now it's Monday and I have a few strips in, that's all...so I'll be working on this mostly by myself for the next who knows how long, then I want to make new drapes (I have the material already but never had the time...). So looks like I'll have lots to keep my mind off the 2ww most of time! Here are pics to show you how it looks so far...I can't wait for it to be done! We've been waiting to get this done for a long time! I'm excited, but exhausted already...and VERY SORE!
before...

then with the carpet pulled out and everything cleaned up underneath...
the start of the new floor...what it looks like now
So I still have lots of work ahead of me! Our living room is 11 feet by 26 feet! The way it was before, we couldn't reorganize furniture and stuff because half was carpet and the other half was the old wood flooring that I had painted last year becasue it looked aweful. Now we'll be able to give the room different areas, instead of the 2 sides we had to stick with before. Plus the carpeted side was all stained from the cat, dogs, coffee, cigarettes (from when Marc USED to smoke), etc. and I couldn't wait to get that out of here! Can you imagine having a baby one day play on that gross carpet? That thought just made me sick! Not for long! So excuse me if I'm MIA at times during the next few days! I'll be busy!

The new flooring is great! We had the wood laminate in our old house and everyone thought it was real wood! It really made all the difference in the feel of the house.

I love the new floor. We put in hard wood floors last year bu ourselves and it took us 3 days. The after product looks great so it was so worth it. Good luck and have fun. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.

It's looking great. Have fun and good luck! We were lucky, when we moved into our house it had already been updated throughout with hard wood and tile. No carpet ANYWHERE!

Sure Lynda! All you need to do is buy the flooring and then buy me a ticket to Wisconsin and I'll be there! The more work I do on our house, the more I love it and the more I want to take on. I was telling my sister I would love to flip a whole house someday. It's gonna rain here for a few days, so I can work without the temptation of the sun. Photobucket is down for maintenance, but I'll post more pics once it's back on.

Thanks! We are very happy about how it turned out and my mind just keeps racing with other ideas to give a new spin on the living room decor. I bought the paint for the furniture, but it might be a few days before the rain let's up and I can do it on the deck, because I don't want to risk spray painting in the house.
Aimee, no problem! Same deal as Lynda: buy the stuff and my ticket over there and I'll be there!
Cris, don't worry, there will definitly be after pics!

It look great. Also what a great deal on all that furniture. I love to buy used furniture and just repaint it and make it yours to match your stuff.
