I called the Nurses line at my Dr's office today to get info to schedule my HSG. The nurse calls me back and told me it looked like we'd be a go for Tues, Wed or Thurs of next week! Yikes! I just expected to get the info/script and schedule it for the cycle after this one, but apparently not! The Dr left early today so there was no one to set it up, otherwise I'd have a date and time today.

I told her my concerns about the insurance and having to pay for it in the end. She took my insurance info and is going to try to call the company for me before she calls me back tomorrow with the date and time.

I am literally shocked that by this time next week, my HSG could be done! I know they do them CD7-10, so I figured it would take a cycle to get in. As long as my Dr's surgery schedule works out with a time that the Hospital has an open, I'm good to go.

I told DH, and he got nervous. He's concerned with my not working right now and possibly having to spit out some $ for the HSG. We have the money but he really doesn't want to spend it. He and I agree that we'd like to see what I made these past few months stay in savings. I think we'll be ok. If we do get charged, we'll just see if they'll take payments right? I'm nervous about having to pay for it too, but I really am ready to get going!

Hopefully the nurse will call back tomorrow having talked to the insurance company and we'll be good to go! I also hope that they have an opening for next week! I think if I have a lot of time to think about it, I'll go crazy!

If you could say a few prayers that everything works out so I can get this HSG done without a problem (or having to pay big time) and get good results, I'd really appreciate it!

Holy Cow... we're actually moving forward!!!!

UPDATE
I was awoken by the Nurse calling me to let me know that I'm scheduled for Tuesday the 28th at 12:30pm! I have to pre-register, so I'll do that tomorrow to make sure they've had time to fax everything over to the hospital.

Then the hospital returned my message about the pricing of the HSG (you know, so I can be prepared). She said it should be around $730 for everything including the Dr to read it. A bit more than I was hoping, but I still have a paycheck coming from my last week of work which will cover most of that. I'll put it away into savings for now though. I think I'll call the insurance company again and nag them to double and triple check the fine print!

I told DH quick and he looked confused... well I suppose that's cause he was half asleep! LOL I'll talk to him later about it all, but in the end, I'm sure he'll be ok with it!
Thanks for all the well wishes guys and the prayers! I'm started to get nervous now! I know I shouldn't be, but still... 5 days! Yikes!

I hope that they get you in for next week AND that that her call to the insurance company works! It would be so awesome if you could get this done this cycle.

That is great news. Most hospitals are very helpful with payment plans (which reminds me I have to call my hospital). Also medical bills that you are paying on aren't supposed to count it against your credit score. Hopefully you won't need to worry about it in the end.

Ditto! I did the hsg and dh did the s/a back in june and we still have not seen the actual bills.....we have only got the statements from the insurance company saying what they paid and what they have not.

So you might have a little time in between. I'm glad you are moving forward!!!

Thanks Lee Ann... Hopefully they'll cover it all, but if not, it does seem like I'll have some time to get stuff together!

I know it! That's what I was banking on- waiting for an appointment! My Dr even said in my initial "lets get a plan togther" meeting that it could take up to 3 cycles to get in!

Wonderful news!!! And just so you know....I preregistered and the woman never finished my file, so the day I go in for my hsg, they had no idea what I was talking about...I was lucky that I did not give them the actual prescription because they needed it again along with all my insurance info.

Hopefully, yours will go smoother!!!

Oh wow! Thanks for the heads up Lee Ann... They faxed the prescription to the hospital, so I don't physically have one... I'll have to make sure that everything is all set before I hang up the phone with pre-registration! LOL

That is awesome! I hope it goes well. Maybe you could call and find out how they are getting the $700 you would owe - break it down to radiologist, etc. As odd as it sounds, my insurance didn't cover all of my radiology bill - they wouldn't pay for the catheter ($200) to put the dye in.
