I'm not sure anyone is around, but I really need some advice.
I called about the HSG (I had a nagging feeling I should) and apparently because it's going to be coded as an outpatient procedure, I'll have to pay the whole cost towards the deductable. All $750 (give or take). DH is really being a butt head about this cause he doesn't want to pay it with me not currently working. I can totally understand his point of view- and part of me says the right thing to do would be to wait.
However, when I was on the phone with the hospital billing dept, the lady asked me a few questions and told me that we qualify for (and I'm shocked that we do) a program that they will pretty much pay for the Hospital aspects of the HSG. All I'd have to pay is the Dr's fees (About $75) Because DH is the only one working right now, and the income cut off (which is rather high- I thought we'd be well above it) works in our favor, we'd be eligible for them to pay most of the bill once it comes back from insurance.
This sounds fine to me, but when I asked DH, he still seemed skeptical. I know he was half asleep but still. I NEED to make this decision like right now. I have to pre-register asap... I'm scheduled for 24 hours away from now to have this done. I don't know what to do. I want to do it and get it done, but part of me says this is too good to be true. I really don't want to wait ANOTHER cycle when we could possibly do an IUI that cycle, you know?
AHHH... why does this ALL Have to be so annoying and why does my DH have to be a butt head about it?!?! HELP!
UPDATE:
I did go ahead and cancel for this month. I just can't do it knowing that he's unsure. That's a lot of money just in case that plan thing doesn't workout. I've already put aside my 2nd to last paycheck and I have one more coming my way and that will way more than cover the total if we need to pay it. The nurses at my Dr's office agreed. I actually asked them what they would do and they suggested waiting the month to find out more info (but they did say the program was legit).
I feel like I'm always taking 1 step forward and 16 steps back. Oh well. I'll get it done eventually... what's a month in the grand scheme of things, right? 2 years down, I think I can wait a month! I did check out my schedule for next month (you know to see when I should expect AF) and she's due right on DH's birthday! Fun times.
Thanks again for listening to me ramble and complain yet again. I'm so sorry that I'm always complaining to you guys! So, I'm gonna hang out for the next month, probably NTNP still ( ) and hopefully next cycle we'll get the HSG done.

aww Cris, sorry I cant help you out. Why is he skeptical about the program? do you think because he was half asleep or because it sounds 'too good to be true' (when it would cost around $750 for all of it)
Lets say worst case scenario you didnt qualify, would you end up paying the full amount? would you not get it done? or is it that you would be waiting another cycle?
I think if it was me I would go for it but then you know more about your money situation that I do!! Sending you lots of hugs and good luck if it all goes ahead, sorry I couldnt help more.

well I think if you're eligible for the program that lady told you about from the hospital..you should go for that.. It would be eaier to pay $75 rather than $750..plus if they are willing to work with you and help you out.. then I would jump on it fast.. I think drs or hospitals or ne kind of drs office should work with people when they can't pay the full amount and set up a payment plan.. but good luck.. hope DH will help you decied on what you guys want to do, too.. but the $75 sounds good to me.. hope i helped

I'm a money person.....but I would have done it also! Unless they made you cough up the $750 right then, it would probably take them a month or so to get you the actual bill.
I had my hsg done on June 15. I just got the bill from radiology on Saturday....it was $62.71. Still waiting on the hospital bill and the bill from the s/a.

I'm soooo sorry that DH is being a butt. That is incredible that the hospital has that program. I'm hoping that you will be able to get it done ASAP.

I wouldda jumped on it, but I had to wait too and it was really frustrating. But you are right, it is just another month. You have a good plan ahead of yourself.
Have you made sure your OB won't do an IUI cycle before the HSG? Or just a cycle of clomid?

Thanks girls. Of course I'm really mad at myself for canceling, but I know it's just a month and I know I can make it. But let me just tell you, the sentence of the day has been "DH IS A BUTT" It must be his day to piss me off!
Anyhow, from what I can tell this program is legit so it looks like next month it'll definitely be a go. And if DH pulls anything else, I'll trump him and go anyway.
I did ask the nurses if I could do clomid or IUI without the HSG and they said that the Drs don't like to do that until we're sure everything is clear. They don't want to waste our time or money which I do appreciate! It would be too late to do it this cycle anyhow.
Thank you guys again for listening to me and offering your support and advice! I seriously would have just given up ttc a long time ago if not for you all!

I'm sure that it was a tough decision that you didn't make lightly. And really, after all this time of TTC, what's one more month?

I waited 2 years for my butthead of a hubby and now its been so long TTCing i am at the end of my teather too (where they hell did that saying come from??? who knows ha ha)....
sorry he was being iffy. my hubby does that too. I am starting to NOT tell him when i ovulate (not that it helps lol cos clearly something is not working)...... but he gets performance anxiety. and then to top it off he gets sexually frustrated as well so hes extra grumpy. i am like "what the????" ****** if i do, ****** if i dont.
Sometimes the stress makes things work. my hubby doesnt want to know about my cycle and it frustrates me cos if he felt the things i did, he would make more of an effort.... but i guess they still want to feel like we are DTD cos we gotta HAVE them (men and their porno fantasies) and us women want to create a new baby (all gushy like and def not sexy )

It's frustrating for sure! I am fortunate that my DH is generally only a butt head when it comes to getting the guts up for testing! LOL... He did this with our initial consult about 6 months ago. Once we were rolling though, he was fine.
I did sit him down and say that I WILL be making an appointment in August for the HSG and he HAS to be there to drive me. He's gotta step up and he agreed. I also kinda said that if he could go spending money on re-enacting, then I could certainly spend money on a medical test to see if we can get pregnant. He agreed and in the end, we'll probably not have to spend that much as it turns out!
MEN! At least we're on the same page now!

Cris, I am glad the two of you were able to work it out and get on the same page. Men are so funny about this kind of stuff sometimes. Nathan is the same way, but mostly with testing that affects him (fertility and non-fertility). It can be so frustrating.

I thought that he was just being picky about the stuff he'd have to do, but apparently not! I know he's as hopeful that an IUI would be a good way for us to go and is as ready to move on as I am yet he holds up the last step before we can do it! He did surprised me by making sure that he's cleared his schedule for the date we're figuring the HSG might be next cycle. Good move hubby!
