What's your favorite room in your house? Why?

Hmmm... Probably the living room. It's so cozy and has a fireplace and it's where I spend most of the time that I'm awake at home. A VERY close second runnerup is my bedroom for obvious reasons! I love sleeping!

Probably the living room... It's so nice to cuddle on the couch and watch tv with DH!

I think my favorite is either....the master bathroom or the kitchen. I'll give the reasons on both.

We just moved into a new house 3 months ago....our old home was an 1970's home and it was really outdated. Our old master bathroom was like a closet...a tiny orange (that was big in the 70's) counter with sink, toilet and bathtub, had no storage whatsoever. Our new house has a whirlpool tub with jets, double sinks....a separate shower, it's really nice compared to what we had and we really enjoy it.

The kitchen - our last house again was really dated and looked old...but the estimates to put in new cabinets was in excess of $10K and we couldn't afford it. We did put in new appliances though, but a drawback is that we didn't have a pantry. BUT the new kitchen (although it has cheap builder appliances) is like a dream....we have a large pantry, granite countertops, its open into the living room...and we have tons of cabinets with a really nice stain to them. Definitely a selling point!!!

We live in an older home (built in the late 70's to early 80's) and had been updated within a few years of us buying the home (new cabinets in kitchen and master bath and wood floors and tile throughout the house). It isn't what I would have chosen, but nicer than I am sure it originally sold with.

My favorite room would have to be my living room (which is open into the kitchen). Everything happens there - we have family and friends over, DH and I play the Wii together, we have time together as a couple with movie night, etc and then AJ and I spend most of our time at home in that room. We will probably move sometime in the next 7 years.

Mine is deinfately the master bedroom which we have been painting and buying new furniture. It's the place where we spend most of our time. There is always one of us in bed because I work nights and he works days.

The family room in the basement is where we spend all of our time. We re-did it a couple of years ago and it's so comfy. A close second is my bathroom that we re-did last year.

Christina....we actually had no intentions of moving. DH's parents pestered a real estate agent into cold calling us and she told us that we could sell our house for what we paid for it plus about 65-75% over that. Our old home although dated had a very nice floor plan with a huge wall of built-ins in the living room and vaulted ceilings. And it was in a perfect, perfect location! We took exceptional care of it and although we did minimal updates, we received 2 offers in 24 hours of listing our house! And we made a killing on the price because we had paid it off just over a year prior to selling.

That's great. We have only been here three years and are in no way close to paying it off. At 10 years we have a balloon payment on our second mortgage (we were one of those risky people that the majority of them got foreclosed on). By then I hope to have one or two more kids and we will need the room (ours in just a 3 bed 2 bath home). What is really weird is that the master has a walk in shower and the guest (AJ's) bath has a whirlpool tub. Let me tell ya - it is nto easy washing a (squirming) 3 yr olds hair and body in a deep tub like that when I am around 5 feet.

DH is talking about if we won the lottery good (and we rarely play) that we could pay off this house, get our new (dream) house and rent this one out.

Wow...I wish our old home was like that, but literally both of our bathrooms were the size of a small closet and there was no luxury at all!

Funny thing you mention the lottery....I play ALL the time! It is rare that I do not have a ticket. Back in 2004....I actually won $2600 - I got 5 out of 6 numbers. And I never spent that money until we bought this new house and needed to buy a washer/dryer/refridge.

I have some pics of the old house.
