I went in for my CD3 ultrasound and apparently, the doctor who did my IUI noted on the dictation report that I have cervical stenosis from a previous surgery I had

I'm now labeled as "cervical factor" infertility. They have my pathology report and my doctor said it wouldn't have any effect on TTC, but I don't think they saw the scarring until the IUI.

We're not sure if the scarring is a factor, but it certainly can be. The IUI will bypass that problem, so it's no biggie....but I've found out that once I get pregnant I will be released to a Maternal and Fetal health doctor which is essentially a high risk OB and I will most likely have to get a cerclage!

But everything else is perfect....my ovaries & uterus, so we will be proceeding onto IUI + Femara.

I just wanted to let ya'll know.

Oh wow! I've never heard of that before. I'm glad that it won't have any effect on your TTC though. At least they know now before you get pregnant so they can monitor you closely once you are. I know being "higher risk" isn't ideal, but you'll be in the best care possible when you are pregnant (which is going to happen soon for you... I just know it!)

Well you have answers now. I know someone in my PR that had to have a cerclage for both of her pregnancies. Oh, and rest easy - with a high risk OB, you get to see your baby more often! Enjoy! I hope you get your babies this month!

Sending more hugs. I am glad that they found this out now though, so that your OB will be able to keep a closer eye on you!!

I guess it's good to have answers, and it's great that the IUI will bypass the issue. There is at least one woman in my DDC that had a cerclage and is progressing fine.

You (obviously) don't have to give details, but I'm guessing this is from the LEEP? I read about it more commonly from the cone biopsies, but obviously they're similar procedures. (I mention because I think I've told you I had 2 LEEPs as well. I have a Dr appt tomorrow and planned to mention to him about watching my cervix for the reset of the pregnancy even though I have no reason to believe I"ll have complications).

It is from the LEEP, Christine. I know me and you have discussed the issue before. I'm not at all uncomfortable talking about it. I've been seeing on the boards where women are getting the cerclage, looks like no big deal. I'd definitely mention it to your doctor though. Hope all is going well

There are a couple things that make me think this is not going to be an issue though.

1. The doctor who did the IUI....although he noted the stenosis, he kept telling me that my cycle was perfect and he was sure we'd get pregnant from an IUI. If that wasn't the case, he could have just said nothing at all and let my doctor talk to me about it.

2. My doctor is still recommending the IUI....she said she wouldn't waste my time if she didn't think it would work.

3. The radiologist that did the HSG did not note it on his dictation report and had no problem getting the catheter in.

So I at least know the cervix is not scarred completely shut! And I've been reading that stenosis is actually a fairly common problem that can be dealt with. It is somewhat of a relief to know. My doctor was willing to let us do monitored + medicated cycle (without the IUI) but with this diagnosis, it would be a waste of our time.

My doctor has my pathology report and said it wouldn't have an effect on TTC, but that was before they saw the scarring. If that is the only hurdle....we can overcome it.
