Hi everyone! I am pretty active on the TTC board, but have been lurking over here a bit. I just moved onto cycle 5 of TTC. My name is Christine and DH is Todd. As you can tell from my screen name we are trying to conceive our first. I am 30 and DH is 38 I have a Dr. appointment set up for October 26 and just wanted to get some input on questions I should maybe ask. AF is due 11/1. This is mainly a yearly checkup I am going in for but when I was there last year he said if we are still trying after 3 months to come see him again. DH and I had really good BD timing last 2 cycles. I added OPK's in last month. My cycle is pretty regular, 27-30 days long, I usually O around day 1.

Have any of you gone to see your Drs at the 6 month mark? I have a feeling my DH's anti-deressant (an SSRI) is causing us problems. I found some research that suggests it can lower sperm count and motility to almost zero and cause the DNA to change in the sperm and cause miscarriages. I had my MC last year just a couple months after he started these meds. Both of our Drs. said it shouldn't be a problem though. I am hoping to get him to his DR in the next couple weeks also.

Hi! Welcome to our little group.

As far as questions to ask- I would ask them when they start doing testing, what testing that consists of, and I would take along any charts that you have. It can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive, so it may just take a little more time. In the meantime, I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi! Welcome to our board My name is Ana (29) and my husband is David
(30). We've been trying to conceive our first since January this year.

You remind me of myself when I was at month 4... trying to figure out every little thing that could be possibly holding up a pregnancy. Also, I'm glad that your doc is receptive to seeing you consistently throughout the process. My doc was the same way and it really helps, psychologically. You get to ask your questions, have him/her look over your charts (if you're charting), and basically tell you not to worry yet, to just keep trying. I remember feeling such relief every time I saw her.

Anyway, good luck! And hope your journey is a short one!

Welcome Christine!

Most Dr's like to have you wait a bit longer to see them as long as everything seems healthy, but if you're concerned about your DH's meds, then it wouldn't hurt to ask! I'm sure they'll look into it!

Anyhow, good luck with your appointment and welcome again!

Welcome!

I went in at 8 months TTC our second - our first was a surprise and I didn't expect it to take that long to get #2, but here I am just a few months away from the 2 year mark.

If you are concerned with DH's motility/sperm count I would ask if they would do a semen analysis. It can't hurt and it is much less invasive than a lot of tests they could do on you.

Good Luck!

Christine

My Dr. wouldn't do anything other than test my FSH and Progesterone levels until we had been TTC for over a year (even though we are both in our mid-30s). It can't hurt to ask your Dr. and to discuss your concerns. But many Drs. won't do anything until you reach the 1 year mark because it's so common for it to take couples up to a year to conceive.

Good luck!
