Hi everyone. I'm not new to JM, but I am new this this board. My DH and I have been TTC our first for 7 cycles and I have question for anyone who has been seeing a doctor about getting pregnant. How long did you wait to see a doctor about it? I mean I talked to my doctor about wanting to start a family about 8-9 months ago, but I'm wondering if I need some help. I know from what I'm reading on this board 7 cycles doesn't sound like long, but it seems like we are doing everything right and I like to get things checked out... any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Tell you what, we have been trying for a year and just now the doc. has started pursuing what is wrong with me... I may have endometriosis! It sucks, this whole thing has been a bigger journey than I thought it would be. I have two children now, 6 yrs and 10 yrs. I didn't think it would be so hard. Keep your head up, you are definately doing the right thing. Try for at least a year and relax is the best advice I can give you. GOOD LUCK! GOD BLESS!

Welcome! When you are TTC 2 months seems like forever but when you hot the 6 month mark and you have seen so many people get their BFP's it is hard. The people that say TTC is not hard have not had a problem in getting pregnant.

I had a M/C on cycle 9 and my Dr then started to do testing on me.

Well personally I am really rather peeved with my doctor - we have had two miscarriages (8 weeks and 14 weeks) and been TTC for over THREE years and he is still very relaxed about the whole thing. I haven't really requested any testing aside from a couple of years ago when we checked my tubes for blockages. Around a month ago I requested clomid and he did the whole "well lets do a physical first" so I go for that this week.

Just refer me to an OBGYN already man! ARGH!

We have been ttc#1 for nearly 21mths now

I am waiting on my blood test results on monday.
I was sent for a US last summer and DB had SA done.
Both results came back fine.
No blood tests were ever done at the time.
So that is where we are now. In limbo

Hopefully if there is a hormone prob some meds such as CLOMID etc
will regulate things again.

Good luck. None of us knew it would be this hard to become a Mum

We have been TTC for 9 months and I went to my doctor around 5 or 6 because my periods were not regulating after going off the pill. She didn't do much for me at all. A month or two later I was having severe cramping throughout my whole cycle mostly on my right side, so I went back and I had an US done which came back normal. Thryroid and some other basic things checked and came back normal. Again, dr. said just keep trying and "relax".

I started charting at about 6 months into TTC and my cycles are so long between 40 and 70 days, so I know that something is not right. So finally, after getting frustrated I went to a different doctor and she agrees that I am not ovulating regularly and she is willing to help us out and move the process along even though we have not been TTC for a whole year. As soon as AF comes again I will have hormone testing done and a HSG and DH will have his SA. She said pending those results we could start Clomid.

At first I kept listening to my first doctor and kept waiting as paitently as possible and then I got to a point where I was so frustrated and didn't agree with her. Trying a different dr. was a good idea and I feel like it is now my choice to wait for medical assistance or give it a try, rather than some dr. telling me what to do with my body.

It looks like you are charting. Do you think you are ovulating and are your cycles regular? If you are very regular and you have all the signs of ovulation, then I would give it two or three more cycles of timed intercourse. If still no BFP, go to your doctor and say we have been TTC for almost a year and see if they can start some bloodwork and maybe a semen analysis for your DH. Also have you had your thyroid, blood sugar and all of those things checked? They did that for me as soon as we started TTC.

Good luck to you!
