i was shopping for some stuff for my daughter. The gentleman checking me out commented on how cute my daughter is. He then preceeded to tell me that he got so lucky cause he has a daughter who is 12 and she is so wonderful and light of his life. He looked so proud as he spoke of her. He and I chatted about his daughter for awhile. I asked if she was his only child - STUPID me!!! and he told me that they wanted loads and loads of kids, but they were only able to have one. He told me they had medical assistance and tried and tried, but it never worked. I was walking to my car, and it hit me like a lead brick. I guess I always thought we would be successful. It NEVER dawned on me that perhaps it might not be.

and the most profound part for me was how after all he'd been through, he referred to himself as lucky, when talking about his daughter. it was really sweet!

I have been really negative this cycle and that's all that I can think about - AJ may be my only one!

What really gets me are there are those of us that want more than one or two and can't have them. My friend only wanted 2 and walla - she is due for her third in March!

Yep... DH and I started the conversation the other night about a child-free life and if it's something we would want.... sucks!
