Hey guys! I know I've not posted much, and I really had planned to be more active around here. But instead I got even more distant - I've been overwhelmed with some responsibilities I have online, which are ending soon, so that will give me more time, and energy. Also, I've not been too active online in general over the last week or so, as Monday was the one year anniversary of my dad's death, so it's been a little rough.

Anyway, I do hope to be around more, and actually comment more. In the mean time, I have a question of my own!

I'm going to be getting a basal thermometer soon, so that I can begin to chart. I understand the basics of it, and plan to do my own charting by hand (with a chart I printed out), as well as using fertiltyfriend.com.

My question though, is about when I should take my temperature. See, I tend to get up 2-3 times a night, sometimes more, to go to the bathroom. Come morning, I wake up my husband when the first alarm goes off at 6, then again at 6:30. Then I usually make another trip to the bathroom, then sleep in until about 10-10:30.

I know that it's best to take my temp first thing upon waking up, before moving around a lot. So, should I try temping at 6 AM (and hope I can fall back asleep afterwards), or would it be alright to wait until I wake up, at 10-10:30?

Any thoughts/opinions you have will be greatly appreciated. I'm posting this at both the Trying to Conceive Your First Child and the Trying to Conceive Six Months +, because I'm doing both, and visit both boards.

Thanks ahead of time!
Tonya

Oh, I'm so sorry about your dad's death! The anniversaries are about the most difficult part to deal with, that reminder of THE day. I hope that you found a way to remember him and celebrate him!

I would say that you should try to take it at 6 when you first get up. You have an alarm set for then, so you will always be up then. MOST BBTs store the last temp taken so you can read it when you wake up at 10. Hopefully, this would mean that you'd just have a minute or so of temp-taking, then back to sleep.

Sorry I'm replying late! I don't get on here much at night!

Good luck with temping! It's sort of fun. I hope that you get some rest soon, too--sounds like you've been a busy little bee!

Thanks for the response! I just realized that if I do it at 6, I'll be having to set the clock on the weekends too, lol. But if I get one that saves the temp, that would be handy and quick.

I agree, take it at 6am, when you have the almar set It's very important to take it at the same time everyday. Even on weekends...my DH doesn't even hear the alarm on the weekends anymore! LOL
