so the headline in our newspaper the other day was that a mother killed her 6 week old baby by getting drunk, and falling alseep on the couch with the baby and smothering it to death - please please someone explain to me God's ways? i just don't get it!

I have a hard time understanding how things like that can happen as well, How on earth could a mother be so neglectful and sleep with a baby drunk? I realize it's an accident, but don't reports always say not to sleep with babies w/o a co-sleeper?? I thought it was common knowledge.....
