I know most of you are undergoing some type of fertility treatment so I was just wondering a few things..

How long did you TTC before you went to the dr. for testing?
Did you ever just have a feeling that something wasn't right?
Have you always known you had a fertility problem or did you find out from TTC being unsuccessful?

I am just being curious because I just have a feeling that something isn't right with either me or DH.. I know its still early to have that feeling and sometimes it just takes time to get pregnant, but I can't help it that I have that feeling

I know the feeling. I feel the same way. We haven't had any testing done yet because it was recommended to us to wait the year. Plus, I feel comfortable with that only because I wanted to give our bodies the full chance to do this naturally. Now with our pending move across country, I have to find a new doc, establish care with him/her, and go from there. I have a feeling that'll probably bring us to the end of Jan/Feb before the ball really gets rolling. So all in all, it'll be around 13 or 14 months of trying before any questions get answered. I know how you feel though! We're both living in a little black box... full of questions and no answers!

I went to my doctor at 8 months of TTC, but I have a previous child we got pregnant with when not trying/not preventing.
I knew there was something wrong - and from the process I was diagnosed with PCOS.

I also went in around 8 months, which is when I started Clomid. That was after 2 cycles that I didn't ovulate and they were never-ending, so I knew my body wasn't working right. I also had very irregular periods before going on BCP, so I figured that there may be an issue. The issue turns out to be endometriosis.

Our TTC journey: 6 cycles Clomid, lap surgery/ D&C, IUI, 2 x IVF; 33 cycles- BFN.
IVF#1 (March 2010) Transferred two 8-cell grade A (perfect) embies- BFN and heartbroken.

IVF#2/FET#1 (Jan/Feb 2011):Transferred two (7&8 cell) grade A (PERFECT) embies- BFN again.
March 2011- February 2012: On BCP due to endometriosis.

March 2012- taking a few months off of BCP and we are TTC naturally.
We will re-evaluate another IVF w/FET try in 2013.

How long did you TTC before you went to the dr. for testing? 16 months

Did you ever just have a feeling that something wasn't right? Yes, I truely expected DH's semen analysis to come back bad (only because I'm ultra regular) - but it didn't.

Have you always known you had a fertility problem or did you find out from TTC being unsuccessful? From being unsuccessful, but everything the doctors told us were problems ended up being ruled out....example - one doctor noted I had cervical scarring, so I was classified as cervical factor infertility; but after my second IUI....the scarring did not present a problem thus I was told that it was probably not the cause of our infertility.

Lurking, but I hope you don't mind me answering.

I was a week late after 9 months of TTC, and went in for a pregnancy blood test. While I was there they did some routine bloodwork to check for obvious problems and didn't find anything. I wasn't pregnant, and when I hit the one year mark, I began seeing an OB/GYN for further testing.

I had no clue we'd have troubles. We started TTC right after I turned 26 and DH was 28, so I though since we were both young and healthy, everything would be easy.

I had started to get worried after 6 months or so. I had been using OPKs every month, and knew I was Oing and that we were BDing at the right times, so it didn't make any sense that we weren't pregnant. A woman's intuition is very powerful, and I wish I would have trusted mine more in the beginning.

i had two miscarriages which led to my looking further into my fertility issues. but i am a true believer in "following your gut" - can't hurt to ask for medical advise right?

We waited about 14 or 15 months before we saw my Dr. DH and I wanted to give it as long as we could to try on our own. I was and am very regular and o every month. I never had a feeling that there was something wrong, but I was concerned that it was taking so long.

Since we are classified as "unexplained infertility" there really doesn't seem to be a defined issue causing us not to get pregnant. I guess my body just wants to drive me crazy!

Thanks so much for all the responses.. It feels great to hear from others who have been there before.. I just have a feeling that something isn't right.. I have an appointment with my regular dr. for my annual pap on December 29th so I will be bringing it up to my dr then and hoping she agrees that we should start some fertility testing! I am so glad I decided to join this board

I asked about a referral to an RE after 8 months of TTC. I did get pg after about a year and half of NTNP, but that ended in a m/c. I figured that we should have no trouble conceiving when we were actively TTC. My GP ran some blood work but wouldn't refer me to a specialist until we had been TTC for a year. It was about 18 months before we got in to see the RE.

I was always concerned about DH's boys. He had the mumps as a kid - but his SA results are normal.
