So most of you know that I am starting my Nurse Practitoner Program in January. Well, I was gathering all of my documents together yesterday and realized that I didn't have documentation of my MMR vaccine. I checked with my employee health nurse, my previous University, pervious Junior College, and previous High School and none of them have the records either! I do remember not having it for my BSN program, but I didn't need it because I wouldn't be working with high risk populations. Well, now in my FNP program I will be with high risk populations, so they won't accept me without it. So you might be wondering what this has to do with preventing. Well, all of the research out there says that you shouldn't TTC for at least 1 month after receiving the vaccine. I did some pretty extensive research on it. Some sources say 3 months and some say as little as 28 days. From what I was able to find in the medical journals, it says 1 month. I am thinking about talking with my OB-GYN about it just to be on the safe side. Either way, we will be preventing for at least a month, which means I definitely will not be pregnant in 2009 or before I turn 32! My biological clock it ticking so loud that I think I need ear plugs...

Awwww sorry to hear you have to sit this month out, but I too would be worried about complications from it. Definately talk to your Dr about it!
We'll be sitting out the next cycle too, to prep for the lapro. It feels like a waste almost. :/

Oh man! I'm so sorry, Ash! It's so tough to go from trying to not trying- especially when it's forced upon us! I hope time goes quickly, and those 28 days are over before we know it!

Oh no! That stinks Ash! I'm so sorry that you have to prevent. Hopefully the time will go by quickly for you and once you're back in the game you'll get a BFP right away!

That sucks that you have to prevent, but think about how relaxed you'll be this cycle.

Lynda, there are risks of problems with the baby's neurological development if you get pregnant immediately after receiving the vaccine. I am not sure from my research of how they know that, but it just isn't a chance that I am willing to take.

aww that stinks Ash! But that's great that you looked into it, I don't know if it would have even crossed my mind? And you know you're doing the right thing. Glad it's just one month, but I know even that is hard!
