DH had a s/a done today and he is nervous and so I am but not as much. We now have the wait to find out the results.
Can anyone tell me if it is low is this the end of the road for us? Has anyones DH had a low s/a? Anything that can be done?
Any help you ladies have would be great as we want a baby so bad, if it is low he will be so upset as he doesn't have any children and just wanted this one.

My DH hasn't had his done yet, so we haven't gone down that road yet (although he will most likely get one soon). But I did want to add that I read that you cannot get a true gauge of a man's fertility from one S/A. Because many different factors can reduce sperm counts temporarily, you need to have at least 2 or 3 done to get a better gauge. Good luck!

My DH is having an S/A done on Monday. This is what I know. Even if it is low (less than 20 million) it is not necessarily the "end of the road." My OB/GYN said that if my DH's S/A comes back low, an IUI would be a good option for us, because then they can wash and sort the sperm, injecting them directly into the uterus. Also, I know a couple where the man had virtually a ZERO sperm count. They actually went into his testicles, and found a sperm to withdraw (yes, it was painful for him!) but they took it out, fertilized her egg and implanted it, and now they have a beautiful 18 month old daughter. Medicine is so amazing.... it seems like they can pretty much work with anybody. Don't give up hope regardless of what your DH's S/A results come out to be. Remember, it only takes 1 little sperm to make a baby!

GOOD LUCK!

I agree with the other ladies! Like Donna said, more than one S/A would be a better measure of your DH's count, and like Amie said, it only takes one! My DH had a low one early on, but was fixed by changing a few things about his habits and lifestyle. I know that it's not that easy for some people, and he still may have a low count (we haven't bothered getting it checked again), but we just didn't want to go through some of the other stuff to get pregnant if his count continued on the low end. You can have IUI, IVF, try methods for increasing his count, motility, etc. So, when you get the result, if it's less than you expected, PLEASE try to remember that you have options!!!

and let us know what happens!

I hope that you get good news. We also have not crossed this path yet - we have two more cycles to go till dh's dr wants to do it. So we're patiently waiting hopeing for BFP so we won't have to do it. But I agree - it's not the end of the road if it's low. There are options. Hang in there and keep your head up.

Thanks everyone! I am just so anxious, I wish we could find out now. If it does come back regular then my doc finally said he would refer me to a gynecologist.
It is about time too, I am not getting any younger...
As for IVF and IUI any idea of the cost to have this done in Canada?
