I cant believe its finally here!! I have my first appointment with my RE today!!! Im soooooo excited but yet so nervous! Im always scared of judgement by people (mainly medical professionals) because im so young and ive been ttc for a year and now im seeing a fertility specialist...I feel like theyre thinking "why is this young girl trying to have a baby SO bad" but THEY DONT KNOW ME!! I always feel like i have to defend myself, i think its all because of my experiences with my last doctor. I grew up at a very young age and im more mature than a lot of thirty year olds soooo i dont wanna hear it!

Wish me luck girls! Im hoping today is the turning point in all of this, and that I come out (not today of course) with some answers and a PLAN!! Ahhh sooo refreshing to even say it...a plan!!! Someone is going to actually help us stay pregnant now! I cant believe it! I have so much hope its crazy. My appointment is at 1:15 CST!! I will update you all asap!!!

Well no plan yet.....but It went PERFECTLY!!! Really he said it all depends on my blood results and all that jazz before we figure out what to do. He mentioned Clomid or Femara to up the egg quality, he mentioned a blood thinner if I have a clotting issue, he mentioned all kinds of things! My RE is the sweetest man in the world, not to mention his two nurses, omg it was like heaven I swear. I cried two times! Once when talking with the dr when he ended his converstation with "Now all this testing isnt to figure out whether or not we can help you, we WILL help you, its just a matter of figuring out what we have to do for you specifically...you WILL have a baby soon enough I promise you" then another time when i was talking to the sweet nurse and she said she understood how tough multiple miscarriages are because shes been through it. As weird as it sounds it was so nice to be around other people who were in the same situation as me, and that were going through the same things and understood it. And to be around a Dr and nurses that knew all about this stuff and were there to help with anything they can. While i was waiting to be called in I was talking to a lady that was pregnant with triplets (IVF) and she was soooo sweet, somehow she said she could tell it was my first visit and she made me feel so at ease, I had been so nervous for some reason. She said these are the nicest people you will deal with, and once your here your "safe" now ... they will take care of you. It was just so nice. So they called me in and I went straight into the dr's office, he was the nicest old man with the cutest little accent (it was like a german sounding accent). He went through everything with me and my charts (he loved that i was so organized ) and he said "looks good" he said obviously I O and it looks like its normally within a normal period give or take a few months. I didnt really get a whole lot "done" with the appointment just more or less talking and telling me what we would be doing within the next month. So...its a LONG list! Jason and I are going in for bloodwork next Tuesday (1/5/10) the reason were not going in until next week is ill be about 7DPO and he wants to check my progesterone too. So he'll get some tests checking for genetic issues and he is doing an SA (which he is very very nervous about I might add ) then I am doing the WHOLE workup checking for genetic issues, clotting issues, natural killer cells (?), MTHFR...etc I was going to list everything on my sheet but there are alot of things I dont even recongnize! There are like 20 things! They said the easier things like progesterone and stuff will come back in a couple of days but the other things will take up to 2-3 weeks. Then i will have my FSH checked next cycle and also prolactin? I think thats what they said. And then they also said next cycle they will do a post-coital test ( i honestly dont know what they check for with that or what its for. Also next cycle I will have an xray done to check the shape of my uterus and tubes, and also a couple of ultrasounds they said. Man thats alot!! I may have jumbled some things because it was SOOOO much it was very hard to remember it all! I had to look back at my sheet to remember some of the names of things! Oh he also told me he wants me to keep temping and try and stick with it as best I can (i have lots and lots of lacking charts). I honestly feel like this dr is pulling out all the stops to figure this out. I feel like he is going above and beyond and I already love him. Its so weird how these people ive never met, seemed like they really cared about me...this ONE patient and about getting me pregnant and keeping it that way. I am so amazed and so excited! January is going to be full of appointments and etc. But he told me deep down he feels like February will be the month, the month where we'll have all the test results and some sort of answer, and the month where we will start a plan and he thinks ill be pregnant very very soon! (Like pregnant, pregnant...you know the kind that lasts longer than 4 weeks?) IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!

How exciting!!!

The post-coital test if going to let them see how DH's sperm interact with your CM... some women have hostile CM that kills the sperm. I doubt that's your problem since you have gotten pregnat. But still a good test to get done and rule things out.

The HSG is pretty simple. That's the x-ray one. It will show if your tubes are open or if there are any noticeable abnormalities in your uterus, tubes, ect. Also something that should come back normal since you have gotten pregnant, that leads me to think your tubes are clear.

You have a long road of testing ahead of you, but in the end you will hopefully be THAT much closer to have answers and of course to holding your baby!!!

Awww I'm glad you had a great RE visit! I too, LOVE my RE. I was worried about it too they would give me a hard time, since I am also pretty young (21) but they never even really brought up age. I hope this is what it takes to get you pregnant, and keep you that way!

Ashley that sounds like a great visit. Yes there are a lot of tests, but they do a lot of them at the same time - so you will only have to go for b/w twice for example. My Jason didn't like the idea of the SA either, but he got through it - twice now. I hope that he's right and February is your month!

Congrats on a great appointment, Ashley! Sounds like you have a great doc and a plan to get things moving.

I remember my first RE appointment...it kind of felt like we were just starting to TTC because it was a fresh start. I hope the test results give you some answers and that you see that sticky BFP very soon!
