My dr. just called me on my work phone so i was freaking out and scared. He said "Do you have a minute to talk" which scared me even more. He started to get into everything, and said it all came back normal accept one thing. So we have your answer! He said "We tested for MTHFR" right there my heart dropped. I started to bawl my eyes out I dont know if it was because I knew that I did have something and I wasnt crazy and all these miscarriages were happening and now I have a reason for it all, or because I do have something wrong with me and its upsetting. Anyway he went on to explain I dont have both genetic MTHFR mutations...I just have one mutation. Which he explained is good! I mean its bad, because thats the reason for all my lost babies...but its better to only have one mutation instead of two. So I am "MTHFR heterozygeous" as he put it. The AWESOME thing is since I dont have the two mutations...all I have to do is take a pill called folgard twice a day and he said the effects are immediate. I CAN HAVE A HEALTHY BABY AS EARLY AS NEXT CYCLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant believe this!!!! This totally takes away the sadness from my huge temp drop today. Because even if I was pregnant I would have most likely miscarried anyway...so now I can take my medicine and be confident next time I get pregnant it WILL BE A STICKY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Ash What wonderful, wonderful news! I'm so very happy for you! Just a pill and you will be able to have a healthy, sticky bean! Congrats, congrats, congrats!!!! Since Folgard is made up of Folic Acid and B vitamins I'm so happy it was a simple correction! Can't wait for your next BFP announcement AND watch your progress along your 9 HEALTHY months!

I also found this mini discussion on the folgard from Fertile Thoughts

Thanks so much girls!! After all my research yesterday im scared to try this month...i read about alot of girls who still didnt metabolize enough folic acid and vitamins and their babies ended up with spina bifida and other issues with the pregnancy...maybe we'll wait till im on folgard a month to try? To make sure my body has as much as possible before getting pregnant? I dont know...99% of what I read the babies and pregnancies were normal and healthy, but im scared of being that one person!

So glad you got answers so soon. It will be no time at all before you get that sticky BFP! Have you talked to your RE about your concerns with the spina bifida? Maybe you should call and ask about it.

Ashley, I am so so so so so happy for you right now that I'm practically crying! I'm so happy your doctor listened to you, took what you said seriously, and tested you! (I'm just annoyed that our medical system required you to wait a year for this testing! Grrr. But that's a rant for another time).

I know that it won't be long before we're celebrating your BFP and then all guessing the sex of your baby, and then adoring pictures of your little one! I can't wait!!!
