I know due to my age I may not ovulate every month but I think I have found our issue as to why I am not getting pregnant. Out of the last 4 times using OPK's I dont think I ovulated 2 of those months. Do you think I would be a good candidate for Clomid? Should I spend the money and go see an RE or just keep trying on our own?
My FSH levels were 6.6 in August.
Honest thoughts ladies, even if you dont think it is what I "want to hear".
Thanks!!

I'm just lurking, used to be part of this board before...hope you don't mind my 2 cents, lol!
When we were TTC, I used OPK's and noticed I had long cycles and had some unnovulatory ones. Usually I'd only O around CD 23ish on a normal cycle (between CD 20 and 25 usually) and some cycles I didn't O at all (about 3 cycles out of the year we were TTC I don't think I O'ed) which made my cycles long, one was 56 days, another was 62 and once it even went 83 days!!! That was soo stressful because I wasn't sure if something was wrong or not, if I was pregnant or not (I just kept POAS and kept getting BFNs), etc. I also had some cycles with my LP being around 9 or 10 days, which can be enough to get pregnant, but in some cases may not be able to sustan the pregnancy, depending on the person and your hormone levels, etc. It just wasn't constant from one month to the next and I was frustrated because I felt that these issues may be easy to fix and give us more chances (obviously, if you don't O on certain cycles and have super long cycles, you don't get the average 12 tries in a year, you are getting maybe 6 to 8, in our situation anyways that was probably about right). We decided to get a referal to an RE just to do some basic testing to find out if this would be a problem or not before we decided if we wanted to start MA or not and do a SA for DH at the same time to rule out any issues on his side. My doc had reassured me though that for many women, long cycles can be normal and many women skip a few ovulations here and there and that it could be considered normal for my body, so to try not to stress about it while we wait to see the RE. It may not mean that we couldn't conceive naturally. And low and behold, after 1 full year of TTC we got pregnant naturally while waiting for the RE to call and I am now almost 30 weeks along in my pregancy and all is well!
So in my opinion, try not to worry too much about it for now, but you can't lose in trying to get in to see an RE and determine if you may have underlying medical issues or if this may just be normal for your body, and then you will have all the information you need to decide if you want to move on to MA or not. But I definitly say keep using the OPKs and don't give up on trying naturally, it may very well still work out for you. I am certain that without the OPKs to pinpoint my O, I would still be TTC because I couldn't rely on my cycle calendar on it's own. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

Lurking too Missy! Since your cycles are shorter and always come on time, I think your o'ing at different times each month. Since you always get AF within a few days of expecting her, I just think you may be o'ing earlier than expected, or later. Missy, I hate to push the Fertility Friend on you, but a couple of months of charting will show you whats going on! I can be your alarm every day, I commit myself to you!

Have you been checked for PCOS? Not ovulating is part of that and you can have "regular" cycles and still have PCOS. Not everyone with PCOS has the extended cycles. Other than that I do think clomid might help you. Also, have you had your progesterone checked?

I have also had a few cycles where I wasn't ovulating (confirmed with progesterone bloodwork). Would your OB be willing to test your progesterone to check for ovulation at CD 21 or somewhere around there (they are usually at 7dpo, but if you don't know when you are O'ing...) If you truly aren't O'ing, then Clomid may very well help you- and you may not have to do that through an RE. I did 4 of my Clomid cycles before seeking the help of an RE (got it prescribed through my OB/GYN). Good luck!

Thanks Ladies. My obgyn wont perscribe Clomid and I dont have health insurance so it is costly to go to the doctor in the first place ($250 for the OB visits alone). She will be happy to order the bloodwork for the progestrone levels and I think they cost $47.00 at the lab.
My cycles are still regular within a day or so - right around 24 days. I really appreciate the time you all took to respond... I think I am just starting to get frustrated with TTC again. I was doing so well too!
I read on the internet last night about Soy Iso being the natural clomid and there are alot of success stories out there. You take it just like clomid and it costs less than $10.00. Anyone heard of someone taking Soy and feedback?
Thanks again, you are all wonderful!

Clomid wasn't covered by my insurance, but I could get 5 pills (50mg) for $9 at Target. When I did 100 mg it was $18. So if you ever find an OB that will prescribe it - it shouldn't be too expensive. Shop around.

i've heard soy isos have had very good results. do you temp? you should temp to confirm whether or not your are indeed Oing. it helps me to know every month whether or not Oing is taking place. You could try the soy, it couldn't hurt! hugs and luck! my advise is try the clomid if you can get a script for it!

I have PCOS, and also do not ovulate every month, but have some what regular periods (usually with ten days give or take of the norm 28 cycle). My RE said clomid should NOT cost more than $18 for me at any pharmacy and if it did to go somewhere else (100 mg cycle) but my ins. covered it.
Good luck!
