well ashton was welcomed into boyhood last night. we went to omaha steaks and ashton was singing and dancing and he did some weird dance move...fell backward and hit his head on the table leg. he falls all the time so we didnt think much about it...nothing more than are you okay and hugs and kisses. then we saw blood running down his neck. he had a pretty big gash in his head that was pretty deep. brad held a wet paper towel on it to stop the bleeding and we decided to call an ambulence because we could tell it was going to need stitches and it was rush hour and we didnt know how to get to the hospital. the paramedics arrived and they put a bandage on his head and ashton and i went in the ambulence while brad followed. he was so brave...he only cried a couple minutes and he didnt protest when the paramedics got there. he just let them do what they had to do. so we got on the ambulence and he got to sit on the stretcher. they took his pulse and blood pressure and gave him a pink teddy bear which he wanted nothing to do with becuase it was pink. when we got to the hospital they wheeled him into his room on the stretcher. and the nurse came in and took his blood pressure again and did all that stuff. anwyay. the doctor checked him out and said that they wanted to put staples in it. they came in and put numbing gel on his lead which had to sit for 45 minutes. while it was sitting brad and i explained to him what was going to happen. didnt want him to be freaked out not knowing what they were doing. he was okay with it. he asked if it was going to hurt and we told him it shouldnt because of the blue gel. anyway. the doctor, resident, girl following the resident and a nurse all came into the room and the doctor asked him if he was ready. he said yes. so they poked him with a needle a few times to see if he was numb and he couldnt feel it. they cleaned it and the doc put in the first two and he was fine. didnt even flinch. then the resident put in the last two and the first one she put in he felt a little. enough to make him say ow and gasp a little. then the next one he totally felt. he was so brave though. he just sat there and cried. he didnt move at all. i started crying becuase he was hurt and there wasnt anything i could do about it. it was awful. he got 4 staples.
all in all he was really excited to ride in the ambulence. he thought that was pretty cool. he was such a trooper. i'm really proud of him. and he didnt learn any kind of a lesson. as soon as his staples stopped hurting he was back to jumping around and being crazy.
