I hope you don't mind me posting here, I just have a question and I am not sure which board is really the place for it so I am posting here (as well as a couple of other boards). We are on cycle 10 of TTC. Dh just had an SA done and everything was normal. Now my Dr. wants to do an HSG test, and I am just curious how many others out there have had this test and if your Dr. performed this test before doing any bloodwork. I asked if the bloodowrk should be first and he said he wants to do the HSG first and we'll take it from there. I was pregnant once in Nov of 08 has an early mc. I am kind of lost and confused and I guess I am ready to go on with the test. My Dr. was kind of short with me on the phone and I am sure it was just because he was busy. I haven't had one, cause i've fallen pregnant 3 times (m/c'd all three) but I know other ladies have had one done on this board, so maybe they can help you!!! hang tight, they will answer!

I had one last May. And I had it done before bloodwork. It isn't too much of a problem. Basically they will lay you on a table (think less comfortable than a pap), they will clean your cervix and insert a catheter to inject the dye into your uterus. Then they might have you move around a little to help the dye move. They want to see if it flows out of your tubes. They will take a number of xrays in the process. Start to finish it took less than a hour I think.

I had a child 3.5 years ago and not been pregnant since. I don't think my doctor expected a blockage (I had a vaginal birth) but he did it do narrow the possible problems.
