I guess if I get AF this time around (Who am I kidding? She's gonna show up, and I haven't even Od yet) I have to get a dye test to see if my tubes are blocked. Has anyone had this? Does it... hurt? I'm kind of tired of getting poked and prodded already.

My doctor sees my girly bits more than DH does, it seems. Ugh....

Someone else asked some similar questions the other day. The procedure doesn't hurt any more than a pap exam. Some people say that they are in more pain than others afterward. About 15 minutes or so after the procedure for me, I started have some heavy duty cramps. I was driving home at the time and half considered pulling over and calling my husband to come get me. Like a really bad AF cramp. I laid horizontal for the rest of the day (thank goodness my 2yr old at the time is a go with the flow type of kid and we cuddled and watch cartoons all day) and my abdomen was still sore from all of the cramps the next day or two.

Oh, that doesn't sound as scary as I thought... DH said he'd go with me <3 so I'm not too worried anymore. The driving with massive cramps sounds like no fun. Thanks a lot for your response, Christina!

I cramped when they put the catheter in and that's it. It was an easy test for me. You will most likely spot after so bring a pad with you unless you want to wear the super big ones that they give you! Good luck.

I've also had it done... I had more issues with the speculum than the procedure itself. It's very quick, I had minor cramping, and it was over in the blink of an eye! Keep us posted if/when you schedule!

Yepp, I had an HSG done in november. I had some sharp cramps after, but otherwise it was quick. I typed it all out here: http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f1...y-xposted.html (My HSG was today (xposted))

For me they did, it was a numbing agent. It didn't hurt, but felt like a sharp pinch that was really uncomfortable!

Hey jes, I've got to have that done too as soon as AF gets here....I'm a little nervous but from what I've read on here, some women experience more discomfort than others so I guess we won't know till we get there

Oh, ok. I really freaked myself out about it yesterday. I understand it's basically just really uncomfortable (what really is comfortable when your doc is sticking things down there, anyway?) I guess I'll just have to put my big girl panties on and get over it. Thanks for telling me about your experiences, gals. It really helps not to get all psycho about something that is potentially really scary.

Sarah, we can be newbie HSG support buddies!
