so when we moved in at the end of each of the first two months our landlord gave us a check for 500.00. to buy furniture or whatever(even thought the house is 60% furnished) and a target gift card to go buy sheets.

the last guy that was here had a dog and wasnt supposed to and left it downstairs in the basement when he went on his 12 hour shifts and it pottied all over the carpet. anyway...they had it cleaned right before i got here in jan but it still smelled. we told them we had family coming the end of march, just mentioned it, and two days before the family got here they had a guy come to clean the carpets again downstairs and upstairs even though they didnt need it. they then got new carpet downstairs in the basement a couple weeks ago.

a couple days ago they came to pick up the rent check and gave us an unexpected gift card to target just to say thanks and sorry about the inconvienence of the carpet.

so today one of the landlords showed up with a lawn service. brad and i went out a couple weeks ago and bought an old fashioned push wheel lawn mower. we dont have that much grass so it isnt a big deal coming from kansas where you mow your own yard. anyway, she just called and said she already budgeted lawn service in every month and asked if we wanted the lawn service or since she already budgeted the money anyway she would just give us a gift card to the commissary every month. i told her that she didnt have to do that...they already gave us that target one but she kept insisting.

i think we really lucked out. they are such great people.

I know how you feel. Me and DH just moved into this house last month. First off, our landlords are great because we were the only people that they showed the home to. We have many animals (4 big dogs and 2 cats) and our landlords encouraged us to keep them in the house. They are big animal lovers.

So me and dh drove cross country from GA to CA with the 4 dogs, 2 cars and a uhaul. We got to the new house at 2am. Our landlord came to bring us the keys. They got us a gift basket that was filled with fruits and cheeses and bread and all kinds of stuff. They left us blankets and pillows just in case we were too tired to unpack. They brought us a coffee maker and had coffee waiting as we came throught the door with crossiants! And on top of that, they gave us a gift card to our favorite resturant (olive garden).

It seemed too perfect. The gifts keep coming and they are wonderful to us. One of our dogs jumped the fence and the next day they were there extending the height. We love them so much and it seems like paying rent every month is just not enough!

We are so lucky to have them! So I know exactly how you feel.

How on EARTH do you find these landlords!? That's amazing!!! I've been lucky enough to have some pretty lax landlords, but nothing quite like this!

Congrats and stay as loooooooooong as you can!

Sounds like you need to clone those landlords and place a set in every state and province, then we'd all be happy, happy, happy!

Wow, that is great. You two found some really awesome landlords. I don't think anyone where I live would ever do that.
