have any of you ever had a dye test. my doc said they put clear dye in your uterus and watch it through an xray machine to see if it goes down your tubes. i was just wondering if it was painful. i'm a little nervous. she said it only takes about 10 minutes but i'm really really nervous.

I had it done. They call it an HSG. I took four Ibprofen before I had it done and I had no pain or spotting. Many girls say it is not painful, but uncomfortable and they get cramping from the dye. For me, I had very little cramping and it was very much like a pap but longer.

On the good side, it clears any minor blockages from your tubes from your years and years of cycles and there is an increased chance for pregnancy for a couple of cycles following it.

I had one a few months ago. They put an IV in me with pain killer so I didn't take anything in advance. I found it a bit more uncomfortable than a pap because there is a lot more moving around, and they are in there longer. But, I had no cramping or soreness afterwards. It really was not that bad for me.

rolli - i will be having it done at the end of the month. My doc told me to take some advil before coming because it can be uncomfortable. I'm not looking forward to the procedure, but as noted above - they say there is an increased chance of getting a BFP for up to 6 months after becuase it kind of "cleans out" your tubes and lets the eggs and stuff flow better. Good luck hon.

Oh my Dr had talked about doing one on me but with me having a M/C he decided just to go ahead and give me clomid. I hope that it is not to hard on you.
