Good Morning Ladies - and Gentlemen (if there are any on here) - don't want to discriminate!

I have a question regarding timing BD sessions around O.

I'm temping this month, and DH and I are sticking to an every other day BD routine. It worked out to be ODD days that we BD. I took my temp this morining - still no spike. If I see a spike tomorrow morning, and I BD late tomorrow night (DH is on afternoons) will it be too late (will I possibly miss the egg)?? I know that the little swimmers can survive up to 72 hours in an optimal environment, and I think that I have up to 24 after ovulation to fertilize - I'm just not sure.
I have been charting my CM for the past 6 months, but this month got tricky. In the previous months, we used the CM to tell us when to BD - apparently it didn't work all that well!!
This month I am trying to keep track, however I'm not sure if I am checking my own CM or sperm from a previous BD session - sorry if TMI.

Any guidance on the "missing the egg" question would be great.

Does anyone else still chart CM while BDing frequently? Is there a way to tell the difference??

Thanks a million,
Alex

Well with my chart I always went by when FF told me that I had O'ed when my temp went up 2 days in a row I was not as into BD as I was before...lol But I can tell you now that I am expecting and going by the date on my first 2 ultrasounds that I o'ed a couple of days after FF told me that I did and my Dr told me that they count Ovulation day as the 2nd or 3rd day of the temp going up. We BD on the day I thought that I had o'ed and I got my BFP but I was dated 3 days diffrent.

Popping in from the Sep DDC

We used the Sperm Meets Egg Plan, basically BD every other day until you think O is within a day or two then every day for a few days. That way you increase your odds of having healthy swimmers in place at the right time without wearing out DH's supply or getting too tired. it also really helps to listen to your body, I was after DH like crazy when we got PG when usually at that time it was scheduled but I wasn't really interested.

I also checked CM, the trick I was told is to check for stretch. I checked internally since I couldn't tell the difference on tp, (sorry probably TMI) and then it was easier to confirm where it came from - semen is like a tour bus, it drops off the passengers and then comes back out, while CM is being produced all the time so it's likely to be higher up, make sense? So get that CM, and check to see if it stretches. I heard less than an inch or two and it's probably semen, over that and it's EWCM.

Great - thank you for your insight ladies!

I have noticed that I am really into the BDing lately - but I thought maybe that was because I have placed a limit on it!!

My temp still hasn't spiked, it's actually gone down. I'm guessing this cycle is going to be a little longer than my previous ones - since our Dr. estimated that I o'ed around CD 9.

Once my temps spike, I'm going to go for the every day rather that the every other day routine.

I'm glad you explained that semen vs. CM thing. It's one of the things that has stumped me.

Here's hoping this works SOON!!!!

Alex
