I just got back from the RE a little bit ago. I have a delayed O (CD 21-23) and short LP (10 days). He seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He talked fast, but answered all of my questions. He did an ultrasound today and said everything looked good. My uterus looked good and I had eggs in there. Hubby is having a semen analysis on Monday.

Since I'm on CD 9 today, the RE wants us to continue trying this cycle as normal and me take the Prometrium that my OB prescribed me last cycle. Then, next cycle, I will call the office on CD 1 and let them know that I'm on CD 1. I will then have CD 3 bloodwork, take Clomid 50mg CD 3-7, a HSG between CD 5-12 (he didn't think it was necessary b/c I don't have any of the risk factors, but said if I wanted it done, that was fine), and go in on CD 12 for an ultrasound. I will also do the Ovidrel trigger shot. When I go in on CD 12 for the ultrasound they will tell me which day to do the trigger shot based on the results from the ultrasound. He said that I shouldn't need to do the Prometrium once I start the clomid and trigger shot. He said that with those, my body should produce enough Progesterone and I could do 7 DPO bloodwork to make sure. He said that his goal is for me to get pg within 3-4 months. If not, then he said that we could start IUI.

He said that while you can get pg with a delayed O like I have, he said that it's not ideal. He said that he thinks that the Clomid and trigger shot will help me have a stronger O which should increase the chances of getting pg and solve my two problems: delayed O (CD 21-23) and short LP.

Does this sound like he has me on the right track? Is this similar to what your RE has you doing??

It sounds to me like what most REs would do. Some would give you progesterone for after O just to be sure. Mine did. I had delayed O, but it was more like CD28-30. Clomid made me O sooner, and made my LP 11 days instead of 9. When we added prometrium into the mix, my LP changed to 13-14 days. Your blood draw 7DPO should tell you if you need progesterone or not.

If I were you, I'd try to schedule the HSG closer to CD5 than CD12. With clomid, you should O much earlier. Probably not CD12, but you want to make sure you have the HSG done before Oing.

Clomid didn't work for me. Acupuncture and chinese herbs fixed my LPD and moved my O date up.

Good luck! I hope the first round works for you.

yes kind of... i had delayed O and didn't even know it, and got pregnant just fine with my first DD. i took clomid for my 2nd. it delayed O even more for me, but that is just my wierd body! for my LP defect, I took progesterone after Oing and that helped alot! sounds like your RE has a good plan! one other bit of info for you, is if you really dont need an hsg i wouldn't get one, unless your insurance covers it. they are very very expensive and my insurance didn't touch it! not one dime, and i have good insurance. i've heard other ladies saying the same thing. so make sure it is covered before you do it!!!! luck and hugs
