For those of you that have taken clomid do you find the side effects really bad?

The reason I ask is that a friend of mine at work is on her first cycle of them and she has been experiencing really bad abdominal cramping. She left today to go to doc but never came back so I am worried. Is this normal?

I had weird headaches from day 6 to 12. Not really bad headaches, more like a dull, annoying, fuzzy-headed, hangover pain.

From a day before O through about three days after I had really bad cramping and abdominal pain. The Clomid can overstimulate your ovaries and this is usually what the pain is from. I was at the point where I was going to go to the doctor and found that Tylenol or Ibprofen helped quite a bit. The cramping subsided about 4 DPO.

I also have polycystic ovaries that causes a lot of cramping too. At the time I thought my ovaries were exploding but a couple days later I felt fine.

If the pain was bothering her a lot it is a good idea that she went to get checked out. I am sure things will be just fine.

The only side effect I ever experienced was SEVERE HOT FLASHES. I felt like I was in a sauna. It was horrible and lasted about a week. I would assume the cramping in normal because it is helping you ovulate and many woman cramp during ovulation.
I wouldn't worry if I were you. In my case the firt dose worked and it was all worth it.

good luck to you and your friend!

Thanks for the info. I will see her at work tomorrow and see how things went. She actually took some Ibuprofen just before she went to doc.
Just thought it was a little long for the cramping, it has been over a week off and on.

Cramping might be a good sign, given how many women experience pretty bad pain when they're ovulating! I hope that this is the case for your friend. Any news on her today?

Doctor was afraid she may have a cyst but doubts it as it was her first cycle. She had to give a urine sample and goes for ultrasound today so I am hoping she is good.

I thought about ovulation cramping too but she says the pain has been there for over a week and that when she stands up it feels like everything is going to fall out. Make sense???

If I don't get my BFP before I get an appointment with specialist then I will probably be on clomid as well.

I hope that she gets her BFP right away, she is young and has been trying for so long now.

Good luck again to her. I wonder what it could be--I know the feeling you're talking about, but have never had a satisfactory explanation. "Ligaments" or "cyst" are usually the answers, but ***? I hope that the ultrasound gives her something to go on!

And here's hoping that you get your BFP before you even have to start Clomid!

Thanks. I am counting the days till I can test. Getting very anxious.

No early signs yet so it is probably not my month. Sigh...

I had that sort of cramping for a whole week too, or about 5 days. I thought something was totally wrong for it to last that long, but in talking to other girls on Clomid, I think it is fairly common. I started feeling totally fine about 3 DPO.

I'm on CD 22 of my first cycle on Clomid. I too had more O cramping than usual, some night sweats and some moodiness. I also noticed that my temps are higher than normal AND, worst of all, I had NO EWCM. However, I also have felt no signs of pg this month so I'm guessing we will give it a try again next cycle but then I'll drink Green Tea and take EPO again for the good CM.

Good luck, girlie!
