We've been ttc #2 for 9 months, soon to be 10 because this month has been annov, so we're just waiting for AF to show.

I know this can be a sensitive subject, so I honestly don't mean to offend anyone. Conceiving our DD was easy. We weren't trying and just got pregnant. This time, it seems no matter what we do, it isn't happening. I've noticed that I have a short LP and little CM (but took green tea this last cycle, which helped a LOT on the CM).

I guess what I'm mostly wondering is, has anyone had trouble ttc #2, with no problems conceiving #1? Is that common?

I wasn't trying for my first either, it just happened. My second and third we tired for and it took awhile.

However my new DH and I have been ttc for 16 months now and we have had multiple tests done to look to see if anything is wrong. So far so good. We are just waiting for an appointment with a specialist now.

Good luck to you and Welcome to JM.

I had no problem having my DD but this one took me 14 months to FINALLY get my BFP I had to take Clomid because I was not ovulating. If you have a short LP you should see your DR because that can make it take longer to get your BFP.

Good Luck!

This is month #9 for me also. I have 4 children and have had a couple m/c's inbetween. With all of those preg. I always got preggers on the first or second month ttc. So yay I am in the same boat as you as you see how long it is now taking us. I have no clue why it is like that this time. Hang in there, I am sure it will happen for you soon!! Don't lose hope!

i too wasnt trying for my son. however we had "not been protected" for about 2 years before i concieved so i guess its about timing for us. It took us a year to get pregnant this time with #2 so i know how frustrating it is. dont feel discouraged or anything though, i think the average is 8months to a year for a healthy couple. good luck with the green tea and if your lp continues to be short, id maybe discuss it with your ob. good luck!

Welcome! I'm so sorry that you're having such a tough time and that this cycle didn't cooperate with you.

I'd been told that I couldn't get pregnant, but DH and I found out that wasn't true by accident. I was on Depo, nearly died from an infection in the same cycle we conceived, had ALL sorts of repro and chronic problems, my mom was in the process of dying before what would be the end of the 2WW (if I'd been waiting for anything), my periods were coming 1.5 weeks apart, and more. Really, it shouldn't have happened. My doc wouldn't even do a blood test at first! Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended poorly at 21 1/2 weeks. DH and I started trying a couple of months after that in November 2004. Imagine our surprise that we didn't get pregnant for over a year and a half, and once we did, had repeated miscarriages and chem pregnancies. This one finally took in the cycle 2 years after we started trying!!!

So, yes, I guess is my answer. We were shocked that I even got pregnant the first time. I was really on Depo to help endometriosis.

I'm meeting more and more women who had a surprise first child, on birth control or with lots of problems, then took months and months to conceive a second. I'm glad that you have an appointment on the 18th. Maybe you can find out exactly WHY it's taking so long, or at least ensure that everything is going ok in your body. I really hope that it happens SOON for you!!!!

Again, welcome to the board!
