What is considered your first day of your period? Spotting or active flow?

I've had 2-3 days of brown spotting (only when wiping). Today I started my period full blown.

What is considered CD1?

From what I have learned CD1 is the first day of actual flow. So it would be today... Hopefully someone else can confirm this soon!

Today! I can spot 2-3 days before full bleeding, but I don't count cd 1 until the day of full bleeding.

My RE just told me Wednesday its when you see red. Was exactly how it was put

Hmm I always count from the first day I see spotting....but then again my spotting only lasts a few hours until I see an actual flow...

Thank goodness someone asked this. It's been driving me crazy for the past few months. I hadn't ever spotted before af, until 3 months ago. Now I spot for days before, and I had no idea if that counted.

It sucks, because the spotting always makes me hopeful. But then af always shows up.

(Lurking, but this question caught my eye.)

I was never sure what to count from, but I consider day one when there's actual flow. I've always been a spotter. I spot for a few days before AF really starts.
