Hello,

I thought the IUI was easier. During the HSG there was quite a bit more moving around and a point of pinching. With the IUI, they just get the cather up there and squirt the little guys in. It's really pretty simple, I think you will be just fine

I haven't had an IUI, but I did have the HSG. Everything I've heard and what seems to make sense is that the IUI is WAY less invasive and uncomfortable. Do you think that you'll go for it? What does Brad think? Does your doc think that you should try right away to do this, or give it a couple of cycles? Good luck, of course, with whatever you decide!

my doc reccomends it just to give me that extra boost becuase brads swimmers are a little sluggish. she said we are the perfect canidates for it. i have a paper saying that i can go in for 6 IUI's. Then i dont have to check with the doctor before i go in. and we can decide if we want to or not. right now i think i'm going to give it a couple cycles. i'm at least going to wait until we are sure the clomid is working. Brad is sort of whatever you want to do at this point. she just said that since i'm young and i have one good tube i've got a really good chance and that doubles the good chance if i do the IUI. it is $113 every time i have the IUI done which really isnt that bad but i dont know because she said the IUI would only increase my chances 3-6% and i dont know if it is worth it. that seems like a long shot for me. and i would rather go the natural way. so who knows. if i'm not pregnant in a couple months i will most likely go ahead with the IUI. And she said that they generally dont like to have you on clomid more than 6 months but if i am ovulating then they could keep me on it longer. hopefully there wont even be a need for that though.

My doctor was talking to me about the possibility of having IUI and I asked if it was like having an HSG and she said IUI was a lot less intrusive and less painful.

I did have an HSG done a couple cycles ago and didn't find it to be too bad or painful, so I imagine IUI would be like a pap or something.
