I get my hair highlighted about 3 times a year. Just curious, is it safe to get highlights during pregnancy?

It is totally safe to color, perm, relax hilite, bleach etc your hair during all stage sof pregnancy.....About 30 years ago there was a big thing with a certain brand of color that causes issues in pregnacny/cancer etc...That particular brand was pulled from the shelves 30 years ago and totally revamped. There is nothing in color, relaxer, bleach that is not in your everyday household cleaning items.....scary huh lol.....the main ingredients are peroxide, ammonia, and vegetable dye in color....In bleach it is simply peroxide and powdered bleach. In relaxers and perms there is ammonium thioglycolate or ammonium hydroxide.....break it down and its still jsut ammonia and peroxide.....Absolutely nothing in any hair chemicals can harm a pregnancy in any stage.....Now the smells may aggrivate your mornign sickness but that is just your smeller kwim..... I promise that nothing you can put on your hair(thats meant for hair lol) can or will harm your pregnancy in any way..Asa matter of fact what gets put on your hair does not even enter your skin...it affects hair only.....it may sting a bit but that is just the peroxide.....think of what peroxide does to a cut when you clean it out.....it stings.....well thats all it can do to your head......Like I said I love this question lol.....I am a licensed cosmetology instructor and I love love love questions that pertain to it....lol.....makes me feel smart

That is great to know as I also colour my hair a lot. Grey hair comes early to women in my family and I hate it.
